WTF are you listening to?

cool guitar sound and riffs. not a fan of the BRRUUUU GRUUUU death metal vox however

also has the distinct feel of one of the millions of flavor-of-the-week bands you come across and you're like "oh that's neat" but when it all comes down the line* lacks the je ne sais quoi to be remembered in a year

but maybe that's cynical and unfair of me

anywayz the sun has come out and started melting the snow and it's friday so i've changed the batteries in my subaru remote and i'm listening to type o negative and feelin like i'm 15 again. kind of

* and the lights they turn to greed, and you race off with your tyres screaming rolling thunder

You know, i always wondered if those two chicks on the cover were porn stars, groupies, wives, whores, whatever.

I never cared to do research though. Mostly because they are now almost 30 years older and perhqps beyond MILFdom

that's a fair and accurate assessment

which is why I ordered the album after half a listen

again on a type o negative binge, man these guys were so fucking good. and i appreciate them now probably more than i did twenty years ago but for entirely different reasons

check this fuckin demo out. how fucking absolutely capital D doom is this shit? dude

hope this helps dude

thanks bro.

i was genuinely upset when Pete died. I love all their records and followed them from October Rust to the end. Check out some of the songs on The Least Worst Of. That comp is killer.

I havent checked out the post TON bands...A Pale Horse Named Death from the two ex drummers. And Seventh Void and Silvertomb from the guitarist. Ive heard those two bands are pretty good.

The keyboardist became an EMT, afaik

A lot of people don’t realize that they used a drum machine on October Rust, WCD, and Life is Killing Me. Pretty crazy shit, they really pulled it off. Apparently Peter performed a lot of the guitars on those albums as well.

I am still genuinely upset that Peter Steele died.

I didn't find out about the drum machine thing until some years after that and was pretty surprised. I mean '90s drum machines are usually a dead giveaway to anyone but nope, they pulled it off indeed.

Songs like Everyone I Love Is Dead take on entirely new emotions when you start to age and lose loved ones.

Some bands age poorly, some maintain their luster, but Type O Negative get better with time.

Spire has a new one out--atmospheric bm from Australia. Really liking this one--reminds me of a french style of bm mixed in with some of the theatrical vocals of A forest of stars with a ton of dynamics. I know the new Beverast album is getting a lot of attention (it's great--not amazing) but really this is one of the better tracks i've heard this year so far:

lol. Meanwhile my gothic girl teenaged self made a 3D video using Love You to Death in my high school computer class. This was in 1996 when Flash was some hot new shit. Macromedia, motherfucker!
