Ya know... (observation that will probably get shot down by people who know the deal)

there must be some reason for organizational purposes that calendars do that.. i mean, sat and sun are the WEEKEND

also I believe traditionally Saturday and the Sabbath were the same thing, but somewhere along the lines Christians decided to disagree.

And not knowing what that reason is, it probably has something to do with paganism, since Christians adopted so many pagan traditions.

But the calendar in it's current form is also a fairly recent creation. I'd say we have the holy roman empire to thank for these shenanigans on all accounts, both Sunday church and Week beginning Sunday.

I forgot now, but a while ago I was doing research on calendars, and there are cultures which use a monday-first day style thing. I tried to find one of these calendars to buy, but to no avail.

Tha last day of the week is Saturday, sabbath, Christians took Sunday because that day Jesus resurected, and Muslims took Friday...each one took a diferent day...as well each one uses a different call to the temple.

No one said that Sunday is the day God rested...

Christians said that Sunday is the day of rest, and Monday is the first day of the week. I've seen numerous calendars that have Monday as the first day.

Religion aside, it would make sense to me that Sunday is the final day of the week and Monday is the first, so I like the calendars that start on Mondays.

exactly.

edit: dammit james.

I don't know what kind of calendars you people have but on all callendars I have in my wallet Sunday is the 7th day

If you really think about it, companies probably start with Saturday and end with Sunday so they can abbreviate both with "S" without any confusion. If Sunday was the last day of the week they would have to use "Sat." and "Sun." as abbreviations. Then mini calendars would look all squished and that is just unacceptable.
