Well, sure. The pagan germanic tribes of old managed to rape and pillage the whole of the western world, as did the roman empire. Makes sense that they left more than their phenotype behind. The descendents of some of those german tribes became the English and the Americans, both cutures that had powerful empires in recent history.

The very days of the week are all named for Saxon and Roman gods.

They're not refering to days of the week they're refering to how many days it took god to create everything, which took him 6 days, and he rested on the 7th day, which just happened to be sunday. Sorry if someone already posted this, I didn't read the rest of the thread.
