you fucking TOOL!

Concert was Great!!!!

Isis owned. Tool owned the ownage with ownage.

I could have sworn they played The Grudge...

I saw:
- worst juggler evar
- Nad's obese tattooed twin
- My good buddy satan... white guy, giant 80s blackman-afro and a jersey for that Buffalo Saber's hockey player "Satan"
- Big black roadie (all of them were) In fluffy slippers or white socks to keep Maynard's nice white stage white and clean.

- Funny/weird dancing (maynard), of which I approve cause it's weird
- Near Flawless Vocals - of which I highly approve and most triumphantly enjoyed
- Maynard's hat - which I approve of, it was most excellent

The Grudge + Pushit = best Tool songs

Also I'm nearly positive I've seen every Tool song performed live at one point or another, including shit like ( - ) Ions, Hooker with a Penis, and most (if not all ) of Opiate. Gonna get bored and check all the setlists probably... oh in an hour or so. [/gay]

im convinced all one needs from this band is aenima, which is easily one of the finest rock albums in the history of people

ive heard them all and none of the others even come close

New single a few weeks ago = hmm.

New album a few hours ago = whoa.

I was a bit let down with the new song, it just sounded like they were going through the motions. Now that I'm on the first listen of the entire album, I can agree with two friends of mine that called that a bit of a red herring. The rest of the album is far more expansive, adventurous, and solid. 10,000 Days did not have the same long lasting appeal of Lateralus and ÆNIMA for me, but I have a feeling that this one will. Repeated spins shall reveal if so, I suppose. At the very least, the 13 fookin' year wait is over. Neato.

This is basically exactly how I feel, but I don't particularly care for 10,000 Days. This album is already way better IMO. They're going on tour, just FYI. Tickets are on sale September 6th. My wife is an all-out sucker for Tool... I have a feeling I'm about to pay a scalper (also known as Tickemaster 3rd party) like $500.00

Yeah, outside of a few songs 10k Days was lackluster. I've listened to this new one a couple times and, so far, I am rather unimpressed tbh.

I think the title track is an intentional mishmash of 4-5 different Tool songs form the past. I'm willing to bet it is anyway.

We listened to it again several times this weekend. It's a good album, but the songs just don't really go anywhere. I'm not disappointed because I honestly don't think they're capable of making another masterpiece at this point. I think the core issue is that Adam Jones is writing most of this stuff, and he is 100000% a one trick pony. Maynard's performance is great but you can tell that his heart hasn't been in it for a looooong time.

You're absolutely correct about them recycling riffs, whether its intentional or not. The second song ("Pneuma" I think?) is just a shameless ripoff of their earlier works- almost to the point where I wonder how they could do it with a straight face. There are several sections on the album which are rhythmically and musically similar to some of their more "classic" passages. Invincible and Descending are very good songs.

I've listened to it a lot so far. I think that Adam is great on this album, and he really held back 10,000 Days from what it could've been. The rest of the dudes are doing their thing, maybe not remarkable, but solid. The masterpiece days are long gone, but they put out two of those already which is a very rare thing. I can think of maybe 5 bands I love that have two masterpieces. Even my forever and ever #1 band ever (Danzig) only did that once.

The artwork is stellar. I got my physical copy today and it is very, very cool. If y'all didn't get one I'm sure there are videos up of the kids doing the unboxing thing. Worth checking out. Makes up for the garbage latest album by A Perfect Circle (bad music, worse CD).

I hate the Stapler Center so I doubt I'll see them on tour this time. I saw them live there once and it was my only disappointing Tool show. Awful, awful sound and even worse nachos (how does a venue in Los Angeles fuck up nachos?!). That was my wife's first Tool show and she said "yeah that was okay." Her second show she left with OMFG Face which lasted for several hours.

I saw them 2 years ago and was so drunk/high that I slept through the last few songs. It was a great show, but after seeing Fantômas I was so giddy that I spent the rest of the long/hot day as Pantera Guy. Good times, so I've been told.

I did pre-order the physical version and I can confirm that it is awesome. Nothing to complain about there. I mean, I'm talking some shit but overall I like the album. I don't think I'll be listening to this one in any kind of a regular rotation, but the great moments are really great.

Man, I love reading your opinions on this! I’ve been holding back a few days from getting on here just so I there might be a few good posts.
My first thought on the release of the initial track a few weeks ago was “meh, they literally went in a time machine back to 1996 and phoned this in to now”. But I listened to the whole thing on the way to work this week (long commute) and well, shit, the rest of the album feels the same. I do like “Chocolate Chip Trip” though.

I feel like it’s telling that the other night when I got home from work and went for a run I listened to “Forty Six & 2” instead of the new album.

Imma certainly give it more spins this week while I’m off.

The songs Def don’t go anywhere. I feel like I’m in front of my cpu edging to some hawt pRon with no payoff. They also have seemed to summon their inner Grateful Dead with this one.
Same way I felt listening while driving to work. I was head banging and all excited and then was like uhhhhh what happened

Lol @ “stapler center”.

Lol @ “100000% one trick pony”. So accurate
