Thank You sir. Being an old bastard, I've seen much come and go - plenty good, plenty bad...but not that much that is truly 100% great! This is a tougher exercise than I would have figured, honestly. I'm admittedly pretty picky about what I like/dislike, even within each metal sub-genre - don't know why, but it has always been so. Still, having followed(and for many years "lived") metal for some twenty-five solid years, I can scarcely think of a time when something really excellent wasn't being created somewhere...if you looked hard enough - and often that meant going underground...the same is true today, by and large.

If I really started meditating on this, I'd end up doing it all night and posting a list of hundreds, but as I do not wish to do this, I'll just name a few absolutely unbelievable albums. My list of albums - that, when listened to completely, aren't that far away from making a person decease of dehydration due to excessive flowing of tears resulting from the simple fact, that the person will probably never get anywhere near making an album that brilliant - is as follows:

Avantasia - The Metal Opera I & II
Ayreon - The Human Equation & The Final Experiment
Cradle of Filth - Midian (except for Satanic Mantra, which almost killed me with the amount of lame that resided in it)
Finntroll - Midnattens Widunder & Jaktens Tid

Absolutely no flaws in any of those, excluding the utter fuck-up that goes by the name of Satanic Mantra.
