Yes, better than them. At least to my ears, but that's my opinion, so screw yourself.

And I never said anything great about Black Ice, I think it sucks. Watershed, OTOH, is great.

you're a deaf retard then ttytt. watershed does not hold a candle to esoteric or deathspell omega, in anything.

watershed wasn't even that great in opeth standards, there was one song on there that I can enjoy from beginning to end (heir apparent) and then half of a song I can enjoy (second half of hessian peel.) everything else is :erk: worthy, especially lyrics like "will the children cry when their mother dies" and "given up the ghost". not to mention the almost ridiculous david coverdale strained melodies on songs like burden.

ghost reveries was a better, and more cohesive, record on the whole. and most people on here have a knack of disliking ghost reveries because it was too formulaic, or too "generic" in some places - but it's a lot better, songwriting wise, than watershed was. most of the transitions on gr make at least a semblance of sense on gr, while on watershed there's riffs thrown in just for the sake of being there with no real transitioning. it's almost like a regression to the days of orchid, except there weren't any harmony guitars.

btw, thorns and ved buens ende are pioneers of black metal and their impact is long lasting - much more so than the impact of a band like tristania or theatre of tragedy.

thanks, have a good night.

Yeah, such big words hiding behind your computer.

Esoteric is painfully slow, monotonous noise. They suck, admit it. While you're at it, admit your lust for Frodo and Arasmas...

rofl "painfully slow, monotnous noise"
rofl

have you ever listened to any sort of metal besides pantera and trivium or what
cos there's more to metal than playing as fast as possible. it's called atmosphere. which esoteric capture very well.

you're deaf.

btw I doubt frodo (cant remember which one he actually is) or wk actually even like esoteric or dso.

What are you talking about? I don't listen to pantera or trivium. Have you ever listened to Tristania? How is that "playing as fast as possible?" Beyond the Veil, World of Glass, and Ashes are amazing albums.

I do own esoteric's TMV, it just isn't my style I guess.

My favorite metal bands overall are Opeth, Enslaved, Tristania, Agalloch, Hollenthon, Sigh, Virgin Black, Alchemist, Unexpect, and Orphaned Land, among others. I'm quite aware of "atmosphere", I just think TMV is NOISE and painfully slow for my taste.

It is quite annoying that you keep insulting everyone on here because they have different tastes than you. You must really be an insecure dweeb, since you obviously need everyone to agree with you on everything.

lmao naming unexpect in one sentence and then saying tmv is noise, the irony.

btw I wasn't specifically referring to tristania when I said that metal isn't about playing as fast as possible. I was kinda hinting that esoteric is supposed to be slow, it's not called "funeral doom" for no reason you ninny.

Nicholas I personally am enjoying TMV more than WS right now but I don't think you can really say objectively that TMV > WS or anything just because they're completely different genres. I mean they're both metal but the difference is still huge. Watershed is mainstream lyrics and power ballads kinda stuff and TMV is funeral doom, I mean besides the distorted guitars is there really any similarity?
