I guess this is in the spirit of all the "TOP TEN FAVORITE BANDS!" type threads, but hopefully it'll be more interesting when structured in this way. Zeph's comment about Behexen's new album being his current pick for 2008 struck me as interesting, so I wanted to see how other forum members felt about the last couple years of music.

Feel free to post a few runners-up for each year, explanations, or however much effort you care to contribute. Given that this is GMD, limit it to metal.

Just start from your current 2008 pick and work back however many years your attention span/metal-fan-dom allows. I'll get on here and post mine later today.

I never said '03 wasn't amazing, just that I don't already own anything better than Goat from that year. (I have Harbinger but I already selected Reverend for two other years so I wanted to choose something different.) I've actually been trying to get my hands on a copy of Epicurean Mass. If anyone knows where this is readily available for less than a fortune let me know.

Edit: Just found Epicurean Mass on Gemm for $8 from "WRECKLESSCHICAGO"- ordered. There's one more copy in stock if anyone else is looking.
