I actually went to film school, so films mean a hell of a lot to me .. more than music.
Film is the ultimate art form really as it combines photography, music, literature, acting ... and they all have to coexist and work flawlesly together.

1. 2001 : A Space Odyssey
2. Fight Club
3. Stalker
4. 8 1/2
5. Brazil
6. Dr Strangelove
7. Amelie
8. The Fisher King
9. Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
10. Dead Man
11. Nights Of Cabiria
12. 12 Monkeys
13. Pulp Fiction
14. Alphaville
15. Citizen Cane
16. La Dolce Vitta
17. Se7en
18. La Haine
19. The Red Violin
20. Full Metal Jacket

First 5-7 are in order..others kind of randomly places in the top 20. Some classics didnt make it (The 7th seal for example)

hehe .. I see you are a big Fellini, Gilliam and Kubrick fan.

I love all Scorsese movies myself and most of them would make my Top 20 ... but Goodfellas stands out so much from all the rest for me.

Will have to check out STALKER .. never saw that.

What did you think of EYES WIDE SHUT?

From an objective point of view I'd agree, the more senses involved the more feeling/emotion/stuff should be possible to convey, but in practice I personally say that nothing comes close to music.

Geez louise, this is tough. Off the top of my head (and ordering them was even harder than listing them):

1. Jaws
2. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
3. Goodfellas
4. The Exorcist
5. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
6. Braveheart
7. Trainspotting

10. Clerks
11. The Shawshank Redemption

Huh, never thought of it that way. Mom is over my shoulder right now, her thoughts: "yeah, except for the acting part." I agree. :tickled:

Yes these 3 are my holy directors trinity. I love em.

While i have seen all "famous" Kubrick films except "Paths Of Glory", i havent seen "Eyes Wide Shut" yet, can u believe it? Half of the people who have seen it are telling me that its crap, and the other half talks about a masterpiece. When i go to the videoclub.. my hand just doesnt go there to get it..
You have to see "Stalker" dude, its a masterpiece in all aspects, you will love it.

All I know for sure is that Unbreakable is #1. Donnie Darko would be in there somewhere as would Big Trouble in Little China, Superman, and Heat.

i can't seem to find Stalker on DVD to rent anywhere ...

Eyes Wide Shut is really brilliant ... you have to be in the right mood to see it. Saw it at 2AM half asleep and it made me stay awake and finish it (even though it's almost 3 hours).
Basically it is about how ones imagination is always more vivid than reality .. at least this is what I got out of it.

I'm glad you said this, because the next time somebody tells me Eyes Wide Shut is crap I can say "look man, I know a dude that went to film school and he called it brilliant!" :Spin: I haven't seen every Kubrick film, but Eyes Wide Shut is just as amazing as his other works.

haha ... cool
the problem with that movie, is that it goes over the head of most viewers. Kubrick can never be taken on the surface ... doing some drugs while watching it helps too :tickled:

1.edward scissorhands
2.rosemary's baby

ghost world
donnie darko
the crow

the salton sea
