For your knowledge, Borknagar's vocalist is Vintersorg. Now you've mentioned him twice. ;) If you mean Borknagar's first vocalist, it was Garm. And the second one was Vortex.

Unless VintersoNg is someone I don't know. I suppose that was a mispelling, though. ;)

1 - Attila Czihar (or however it's spelt (Aborym, Tormentor, Mayhem's De Mysteris)

Are you serious? Your favourite vocalist?

I've only heard him (many-a-time) on Mayhem's debut l.p, so I can only judge that way, but I wouldn't class him in my top 15 probably.

I know he's been notoriously criticised for his work on Mayhem's album, especially as he was replacing the almight Dead. It's interesting to see a big fan of his....

Aaron Stainthorpe (mdb)

Shite, I forgot to mention Stainthorpe during the 'Turn Loose the Swans', 'The Angel and the Dark River', 'Like Gods of the Sun', and '34.788%...Complete' era My Dying Bride.

Peter Tagtren -> The nuclear wind suction vocals ;)
Devin Townsend -> Well, not much to say about this one :) :)
Layne Staley -> AIC, great vocal harmonies, unique
David Vincent -> He was good, and then got married...
Peter Steele -> The man has a deep deep voice :)

Female wise I like:
Tori Amos -> Slightly off kilt singing, but very good
Heather Nova -> Always liked her voice, sometimes can be very haunting
Angela Gossow -> Small woman, big voice
The one from the gathering -> Nice to listen to
Christina Scabbia -> Lacuna Coil

Yeah, Attila's vocals rule! I know he pisses a lot of people off, but he is just amazing and inimitable.

 I actually used that in the heading of a PM I sent to a guy about 30 minutes ago. I'd basically written it like that too!

So you prefer him to Dead? What about 'The Freezing Moon'? Especially the intro on Leipzig. It sends a chill down my spine.

Dead was excellent, but I find Attilla's vocals to be more spine-chilling. They sound so tortured and despairing! Only Varg Vikernes (who I missed of my list. damn!) comes close to creating that kind of atmosphere.

Yeah, I forgot to mention Varg as well.

I love his vocals on 'Hvis Lyset Tar Oss'... his voice is so emotional and heartfelt.

Attila definitely does put plenty of emotion into his stuff. Just for me, it sounds somewhat silly at times. I can only imagine what Dead would have sounded like on that album!!! Oh my god. To me it'd be the album of all time.....

I have to agree with one of my friends that Attila's voice sounds like a grunge dude trying to be hard!!! I prefer Maniac's vocal (not the clean "rapping" one though!!!), although he isn't a vocalists I would categorize as a good singer! Check out Marvin Gaye or Jeff Buckley instead! I have an addition to Marvin's songs with nice vocals: "Abraham, Martin & John".

I so agree. Tori Amos, not matter how up beat the tune and how up beat the song, always has an evil or errie undertone to her songs.
