I guess that I interpreted "safe" as "a safe candidate for a Republican victory in 2012" where you guys mean safe as in "a safe candidate not to fuck things up as President". Strong political/ideological conviction in politics is not very common in general, so I don't see that as a strike against him relative to almost anyone else.

Well, not believing in evolution is pretty crazy. Especially for a doctor, who is supposed to have a great deal of scientific education.
But yeah, Ron Paul's ideas on our foreign policy is spot on.

I've tossed around the idea of multiple creations/clearings (among other things). Seems more valid than the concept of radical, sustained, beneficial mutation.

It's called natural selection. It's not actually random, nor does it have anything to do with "intelligent design".

The genetic mutations would be random, while the ones that "make it" would be naturally selected. But this isn't an evolution thread

Even if Paul wins every primary, he will not be given the nomination. I think everyone here knows that.

The Republican leadership would just say that the primaries don't reflect the "true" wishes of the Republican voters and then select the runner up in a convention, etc.

I would love for that to happen. Rip the fucking mask off the process for everyone to see.

Why would they do that? Why wouldn't they just announce a different candidate after the votes were counted?
