A Day To Remember - What Seperates Me From You

I think the main reason I am disappointed with album is because Bendeths mixes in general have become so predictable that I wish they would sound different. To an extent i think he has taken the "sturgis" (no offense intended) approach to using alot of the drum samples/eqs/compression for all his mixes. Im not saying its not always a bad idea to do. I think he should have a sound that distinguishes his mixes from everyone else but I dont think every mix calls to be so similar. I mean, listen to CLA and TLA's mixes. Yes, they all have similar distinct sounds that classify the mix as a CLA or TLA, but for example they do not use the same green day american idot snare sample on every single mix. They will almost always use the bands tracked snare and then blend it with samples. Im sure alot of people do not agree with me and thats cool. If this is the kind of mix you like, I respect that and its obviously not a hated mix if bendeth is still getting alot of business.

^^What the hell?? Are you deaf??? His mixes have a definite character to them that is distinctly Bendeth's, but to say that he uses the same snare sample on every mix when comparing him to CLA of all people?

CLA's snares are damned near identical on most, if not all, of his releases - I do not hear this in Bendeth's work at all.

The set your goals album sound nothing like the new adtr album.
Sure you can point your finger on a present bass and punchy as hell drums but I think thats more a question of taste then of copying settings of old sessions.

His mixes are very predictable. I know what you mean. I just heard this new project he did and listened to the song Farmers daughter. Same old crap.

Like I said, its just my personal opinion. :) Check out some of CLA's videos on youtube though and how he goes through mixing .From looking at the board while the song is playing and listening to his past mixes you will see he probably does use alot of the same base snare samples for layering but out of the 4 or 5 snare tracks firing, one is a the bands live snare and thats more than what I hear from bendeths mixes. Im sorry though, listening to the set your goals mix and the ADTR mix literally sounds like the same eqs, samples, and all.

Some songs remind me of Mayday Parade.
And make me want to listen to Mayday Parade.
Odd.

Growing on me slightly.

Really didn't like the guitar tone at first.
Still don't really.

Couple decent songs.
Some lyrics are pretty crappy.
And the hooks aren't great(some are)

Not that good of an album.

Let's be honest, Hayley Williams is the ballsiest singer on that album.

You're nuts - they sound completely different. Go listen to the multitrack files of the Paramore song that leaked from RockBand/Guitar Hero - there's a ton of bleed in the kick/snare. He produced that album, so obviously the originally snare sound was probably more to his liking, but ADTR and SYG's drums sound completely different, and I really don't think that's a matter of personal opinion.

On first listen, I dug the mix, but I didn't like the songs as much as the last one. I remember hearing the last one and liking it after hearing the first song. The more I listen to it though, the more I like it. I also think the vocal production was cooler on the last one.

I've worked with Dave and Dan before, and they are no chumps. Those guys really know their stuff, and always put out solid work. Nice work man.

I was pretty late to the adtr bandwagon, only just started listening to them fairly recently, but im a fan of both Homesick and this latest one. There are some catchy as hell arrangements and melodies.

All signs point to Lauderdale is my favourite on the new album by far.

Cheers
