A lengthy discussion on the state of metal, black metal, retro metal, and hipsters.

Good thoughts on both sides.

Of course its just my opinion. I think that's pretty well implied on an internet forum unless categorically stated "Musicians just shouldn't do this and everyone should agree with me" or in the case of the tattoos "woman shouldn't be allowed to get tattoos" I was simply expressing my opinion (if you go back and read it) on why I can't stomach certain genres and sub-cultures. As Carpe Mortem said its better as a method of escape from reality as opposed to a commentary on it. No surprise, I like Atmospheric BM, Folk, Stoner, and Doom. These tend to err towards the abstract, historical, or fantastical. It all depends on what you're trying to get out of it.

i think they're often both sides of the same coin though, particularly with BM.

all sub-cultures are kind of annoying and sheeplike tbh. i prefer folks who can't be pigeonholed so easily.
