What books do you like?

What are you reading now?

I'm reading "1984" (George Orwell) again.

Do you like comics?

I'm crazy about Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman and Grant Morrrison.

I'm not one that reads much, but two novels that I love to read over and over again:

"El nino que enloquecio de amor" - Eduardo Barrios (Chile) & "Nada menos que todo un hombre" - Miguel de Unamuno (Spain)

Makes me cry every time...:waah:

I enjoy Brett Easton Ellis' imagination.

I love Bret Easton Ellis...along with Thomas Ligotti, Lovecraft, D Harlan Wilson, Simon Logan, Palahniuk, Auster and a few others

*cough*

I'm currently working on "Notes from the Underground" by Dostoyevsky

Right now I'm almost finished with "Wizard's First Rule" by Terry Goodkind, the first in a long series of books about magic and wizards and demons, etc. Similar to Lord of the Rings. All the guys in my band have read the entire series and speak very highly of it. When Clint let me borrow Wizard's First Rule, he told me I'd be hooked by the 5th page. He was wrong. It took about 100 pages, but I'm completley addicted and bust it open any chance I get. I can't wait to start the next book.

I also enjoy Dean Koontz' stuff, Watchers especially.

I tried to read Wizard's First Rule a year or two ago, but I never managed to get into it because of school work, which is a real shame because he is an excellent writer. I might try again though when I have some free time. Ill have to visit the power metal section in the Library once again and conquer me some epic fantasy.

Ugh, I can't fuckin stand Terry Goodkind. He starts off okay but after a few books the entire series becomes a political diatribe against the evils of socialism.

After finishing a Terry Pratchett binge (specifically, all the Night Watch Discworld books in order), I read Larry McMurtry's Streets of Laredo, the sequel to Lonesome Dove. Not quite as good, but still has that Old West epic feeling, and is possibly even more hellishly depressing. Now I'm rereading Stephen King's It just for the hell of it.

I'm currently on Book 10 (Crossroads of Twilight) of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time.

i am currently reading Comparitive Politics: Notes & Readings by Bernard E. Brown.

what?

I'm reading a triple trilogy by Robin hobb.
At the moment, i'm reading Golden Fool.
It's the 2nd book of The Tawny Man, the third trilogy.

i would love to find a book by Ligotti SOMEWHERE on the planet, because i'm not having any luck. and i keep meaning to pick up Haunted. is it good?

just finished Messenger by Edward Lee. anyone familiar with his work?

now i'm starting on another one of those short horror story collections that i buy complusively. i have about 10 of them lying around that i have to finish, then i'm hitting either John Saul's Right Hand of Evil, Off Season by Jack Ketchum, or Night Stands at the Door by Katherine Blake, which should be an interesting departure from the typical splatterpunk horror fare.

<3 books.

working on some of my own, too.

1984 is great. Neil Gaiman is (pun intended) godlike. have you checked out the Preacher comics? EVERYONE should read them if they are worthy of life.

yeah it's good, although there are some pretty gruesome parts.

Ligotti you usually have to use the internet. He just came out with a collection called The Shadow at the Bottom of the World, and I've seen it in Borders here and there, so you shouldn't have too hard of a time trying to find it.

edit: I read The Right Hand of Evil...great book, but I never checked out any of John Saul's other books because some of them seemed a little corny to me

I started those during the summer at first I was really into them then halfway through book four I stopped. I dont know I guess I just overloaded on them and needed a break I keep wanting to finish it. Great books though. For me, a book n00b at least.

so i went to this little bookstore down the street and asked if they could look up any Thoman Ligotti books. the only one that i knew of was Nightmare Factory. the (creepy old) guy at the bookstore said he could order Shadow... then looked up NF for me. Apparently, a CHEAP, USED version of that book is $70. :OMG: so just how good is this guy??
