Albums that have few good songs (the first few, usually) and the rest sucks

Yeah, true. Fabulous Disaster comes to mind. Two first songs are fucking epic, a few decent songs (Like Father, Like Son; the Overdose cover) and the rest sucks.

Fabulous Disaster is actually one of my favourite Exodus albums along with Tempo and Bonded... I just dig the whole album more than individual songs just for being so stylistically different to their other stuff.

To be fair a lot of my favourite albums have filler on them. I'd rather have 3 songs I love, 2 ok ones and 2 filler than an album of meh in a style I find repulsive.

Why be fair when you can choose favorites that kick your ass from beginning to end with no filler?

Also...don't hate me, but...Ace of Spades. I mean, you have the title track, you have We Are The Road Crew, and you have...what, exactly? A bunch of solid songs (Dance, Fast And Loose, The Chase Is Better Than The Catch, The Hammer, etc), but not remarkable. Overall a reasonably consistent album, and fun to spin, but definitely got a bunch of thriller on there.

Actually, I pretty much agree with you 100% there.

Agree with all but Rhapsody and Dimmu. PEM is my favorite Dimmu album, and I can't stand Rhapsody at all.

SBD could easily be considered Dimmu's best album done in their modern style and PDM may be slightly overrated but it really is a defining album for them.

I find this to be the case with everything Ive heard from Dimmu Borgir. Soemtimes I pick up one of their cd's and I am wondering why I dont liten more often to their stuff. When the it has finished playing I always know why - I dont think it holds up all the way through. Or perhaps that it just becomes to much to digest. For me Dimmu Birgir can be really good but only in small doses.

I actually love all of tempo... For me it's their best album *awaits flaming*. And i also think Zetro's vocals are ripping. Again i'll probably be flamed for this but zetro is my favourite exodus vocalist. Baloff, may he R.I.P., was "classic" for the period but zetro is truely awesome imo. I guess it's a personal taste kind of thing

Always felt like 'Golgotha' was by far the peak on Onward to Golgotha. Likewise for 'As I Behold I Despise' on Slumber of Sullen Eyes. I imagine a lot of people will disagree since these are considered classics. Maybe I just don't have the patience for the less immediate stuff.

'Magical Shadows of a Tragic Past' on Vampires of Black Imperial Blood too. Though 'Born Under the Master's Spell' is also good.

In the Nightside Eclipse, IMO, has clear peaks in the first and last two tracks. Blood Fire Death and Reign In Blood are of course the classic examples of "total filler sandwiched between two amazing songs".

Really there's not a great many metal albums I want to listen to more than a handful of songs off in one sitting. It doesn't really suit my ADD listening habits and the notion of the album as a coherent statement is massively overblown when looking at the vast majority of metal albums IMO.
