As of now, what looks like a lock for your annual Top 10? For me, 2007 releases with a shot of landing in my Top 10:

Devin Townsend Ziltoid The Omniscient - 50/50
Megadeth United Abominations - good, but not Top 10
Moonsorrow V: Havitetty - needs more spins
Novembers Doom The Novella Reservoir - a lock
Pink Cream 69 In10sity - 75/25
Redemption The Origins of Ruin - a lock
Swallow the Sun Hope - need more spins
Symphony X Paradise Lost - a lock
Thurisaz Circadian Rhythm - need more spins

NP - Scars of Chaos

havent checked out all that much from this year, but these are the ones impressing the most:

Jesu - Conqueror
Graveland - Will Stronger Than Death
Funeral - From these Wounds

And the Best Album of 2007 so far, bar none: Lunar Aurora - Andacht

Moonsorrow - Havitetty gets boring really fast.
Ziltoid the Omniscient needs more listens.
Jesu - Sun Down/Sun Rise needs more listens
Neurosis - Given to the Rising needs more listens
Ensiferum - Victory Songs is cookie cutter
Clutch - From Beale Street is disappointing
Type O - Dead Again is good, but not their best. could squeak in.

EDIT: Pelican - City of Echoes is surprisingly good

Hmm, a top 10 for the first half of the year.

Right now its at:

1. Graveland - Will Stronger Than Death
2. Sigh - Hangman's Hymn
3. Manticora - The Black Circus Part 2
4. Devin Townsend - Ziltoid The Omniscient
5. Symphony X - Paradise Lost
6. In Vain - The Latter Rain
7. Manegarm - Vargstenen
8. Mael Mordha - Gealtacht Mael Mordha
9. Candlemass - King Of The Grey Islands
10. Fortid - Voluspa Part 2: The Arrival Of Fenris

And for the fuck of it...

11. Novembers Doom - The Novella Reservoir
12. Obscurus Advocam - Verbia Daemonicus
13. Moonsorrow - V: Havitetty

Shit that will probably invade the list somewhere along the line:

King Diamond - Give Me Your Soul... Please
Emerald Sun - Escape From Twilight
Root - Daemon Viam Invenient
Doomsword - My Name Will Live On
Slavland - Echa Wiekow Pradawnych
Swallow The Sun - Hope

Nothing is a lock till sometime in the middle of 2008.

Manegarm - Vargstenen (fanboi)
Dying Fetus - War of Attrition (decent)
Kroda - Fimbulwinter (awesome and epic :kickass: )
Vital Remains - Icons of Evil (crushing)

shit, thats all I have :(

listening to the Transformers movie soundtrack from 1986 :kickass:

RAVENTALE - On a Crystal Swing
MEGADETH - United Abominations (probably listened to this more than anything else)
NOVEMBERS DOOM - Novella Resevoir (couple of duds but rest is awesome)

That's about it. :erk:

Need more time with Candlemass and King Diamond.

Somewhat disappointed by Graveland (inferior to the previous), Symphony X (just not as good as their last 3), Moonsorrow (I can't deal with 25 minute songs).

Goddamn purists will say WARNING is 2006 although 99% of us only heard it for the first time this year, but f that, "Watching from a Distance" would win this year hands down.

I haven't scoured the dark recesses of the internet for all that has been released thus far, but I have come across a few that I've found to be most excellent.

Graveland - Will Stronger Than Death
Inquisition - Nefarious Dismal Orations
Stiny Plamenu - Odpadni galerie
Mandatory - ...Where They Bleed
Deathevokation - The Chalice Of Ages
Lunar Aurora - Andacht
Minotauri - II
Reverend Bizarre - Teutonic Witch
Stygian Shore - The Shore Will Arise
Drudkh - Anti-Urban
Witchtrap - No Anesthesia
Church Bizarre - Sinister Glorification
Profanatica - Profanatitas De Domonatia

Albums that I expect will be awesome but aren't out/haven't heard:

Candlemass - King Of The Grey Islands
Doomsword - My Name Will Live On
Mael Mordha - Gealtacht Mael Mordha
Morrigan - The Damned

Deathspell Omega - Fas- Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
Faustcoven - Rising From Beneath The Earth
Upwards Of Endtime - From Genesis To Apocalypse And Beyond
Earth Flight - Movin' With...
Centurions Ghost - The Great Work
Totem - Totem
Serpentcult - Trident Nor Fire

Nunslaughter - Hex
The Lamp Of Thoth - The Lamp Of Thoth (assuming it's self-titled)
Desolation Angels - Box Set
Runemagick - Dawn Of The End
The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Hardworlder

Did not know they had a new one in the works. Consider it a blind buy. :kickass:

Its already out.

Came out April, I think. I got it a few days ago, only given it one listen so far.

Edit: You can get it on TER, as long as its still in stock, which I'm willing to bet it is. The limited edition is sold out though, when I bought it. Was only 666 copies.

only 2007 album ive got is Municipal Waste - The Art of Partying

not quite as good as their last, Hazardous Mutation, but it definitely wrecks the neck :kickass:

I'll see if I can get to it in the morning, at the moment I have to get some sleep, I'm leaving early tomorrow for vacation. You can check the No Nolours website, they probably have a track, if not I'll try to remember this before I leave.

Megadeth - United Abominations
Angantyr - Haevn
Shining - V: Halmstad
Dark Tranquillity - Fiction
Darkestrah - Epos
Moonsorrow - V: Hävitetty
Watain - Sworn to the dark
Candlemass - King of the grey islands
Lord Belial - Revelation
Paradise Lost - Requiem

Are the 10 best releases of 2007 so far.

Lunar Aurora - Andacht : the answer to Anthems...10 years after. Excellent.
Neurosis - Given to the Rising : opened me the doors to the two previous which were collecting dust. The real album of maturity.
Elend - A World in their screams : if you like Elend, you will like it. If not, pass.
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible : gay but entertaining. Less strong than Funeral though.
Grayceon - s/t : I'll be looking for the next album provided they hier a new drummer :p . Otherwise it's all good.
Dälek - Abandonned Language : this is hip-hop dudes. And not catchy at all. I'm out..

Awaiting the Lurker of Chalice and DSO..

What has been kicking my ass but was released earlier :

Jaga Jazzist - The Stix (electro/jazz)
Jaga Jazzist Horns + Motorpsycho - In the Fishtank (improvised session, their best material, it is excellent)
Aphex Twin - Drukqs
Don Caballero - 2
Taake - Doeskvad (only 'got' it now)

Worst album :

new Manes.

Standout (meaning not just "good" or "worthy of referance") releases so far

The Hidden Hand - The Resurrection Of Whiskey Foote
Paradise Lost - Requiem
Totem - s/t
Big Business - Here Come The Waterworks
Symphony X - Paradise Lost
Pale Divine - Cemetery Earth
Rush - Snakes & Arrows

Still waiting for the new Candlemass and Doomsword
