Dälek is still kicking my ass.
The Cinematic Orchestra is pretty cool.
Lunar Aurora and Neurosis are excellent but they've been collecting dust (digital dust for the latter)
The new Riverside is kinda meh, not that many care..
The Ocean is releasing a double album in the following months, let's see what happens..

Yes Riverside is only a 2nd choice type of band but I like Second Life Syndrome, it's more subtle than later Porcupine Tree for instance. The new one seems to have lost that eerie atmosphere I liked..am I wrong and should listen again?

Yes listen again. I thought "Out of Myself" was garbage, they've come along way since that dud.

How does this compare to Irradiant?

I recommend the new Minus the Bear album Planet of Ice to fans of Dredg + Porcupine Tree. It wont change your world but for easy listening it works a treat. Not really bought anything else recently though I'm planning to pick up the new DSO and Oxbow albums at some point. An Ocean double album sounds pretty sweet, at least if they stick more to FluXion style material.

Given to the Rising is still by far the best thing I've heard from this year.
