Anyone actually like their newer stuff?

i take it you mean Sound of White Noise, Stomp 442, and Volume 8. well, i think they are actaully good albums. actually, Volume 8 and Sound of White Noise were teh first 2 'thrax albums i bought (and oddly enough, i found a sealed copy of Volume 8 at a local Circuit City in late 2000, a while after it went out of print). I really like Stomp 442 for some reason. can't wait for the Volume 8 re-release!!!

I'm a fan of both.

Grew up with the old school Anthrax. Among the Living is just a great album. As mentioned before, to me, Joey was always the weak link. Even though I love thier stuff, I was never keen on the vox, but they lent a unique touch to the songs. Once John came in, I feel the band was complete. SOWN is very heavy. Not as thrashy, but more gritty. I believe the vocals and lyrical content add to this "heaviness". These albums are alot more different than the earlier Judge Dread and Jams we are used too. POT was a pretty heavy album too and underrated imo.

bottom line, I love both versions of anthrax :)

I still say I would love to hear a well done live cd or like mentioned on another post, a rerecorded version of some older tracks with john singing as I would love to play that for those who haven't seen anthrax with john. I love both old and new anthrax but I think joey's vocals were the weak point.

Yeah, I think I'm getting that picture, some of you sound brainwashed. Then again, i think you'd have to be to call newer Anthrax "heavy" or even good in general ;)

"Fistful of Metal" is still their only album I thought was any good. The next few were decent, far better than the newer stuff, but nothing close to being good heavy thrash! It was kinda thrashy, but almost in a flowery weak way, "flowery thrash", that fits it well

Grossly overrated in my opinion, especially when you look at bands that were far superior musically yet had a fraction of the fan base Anthrax did simply because of their smaller record label contracts/promotion: ADX, Hobbs Angel Of Death, Agony, Atrophy, Death Angel, Onslaught, etc.

Anthrax were THE band that got me into metal.I was a fanatical fan.At the time i even dug Joey's voice. But when John joined ANTHRAX was revolutinised in my opinion.Definetly wish he was on all their releases after hearing Sound Of White Noise. But then i heard Stomp 442 and thought...what the fuck went wrong.I've only heard one song since white noise that i thought was killer...but then again it killed me so much that i can't remember the title...go figure.
Among The LIving...easily Anthrax's best.

Personally, I can tolerate Joey's vocals, and on the older stuff, the riffs are killer. But as a whole, the new stuff just beats it. Better vocals, riffs are almost as good, and the lyrics aren't cheesy.

i like the 'music' of the earlier stuff but not joey's vocals.
on the newer stuff i like (no - LOVE!) john's voice but don't like the music as much as the earlier stuff.
now if thrax could make a record like among or POT (fast, angry, heavy) combined with john's vocals that would be KILLER!
i'm just not so keen on all this mid-tempo material that thrax have been doing so much of recently. come on guys what happened to playing fast???????

stop complaining about Joey!!!!!!!!!!!!!he was a killer frontman!!!!!without Joey we wouldn't be here on this board!!!!!Do I here someone saying Neil Turbin was a great singer????
So PLEAASE SHUT UP ABOUT JOEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brainwashed by who? The media that have ignored the band? The record companies that haven't promoted the band?

Or maybe by listening to the band 's records themselves repeatedly? Perhaps the last one, which I did of my own free will, simply because SOWN, Stomp, and Vol. 8 are three of the best metal albums ever!!! Biased? Maybe a bit...but I wouldn't be here if I didn't like Anthrax...which begs the question: what are you doing here?

It's one thing to state an opinion, it's another thing to come in here and insult us because of our opinions. So this is for you...

I think I saw this fucker "A Journey's end" on blabbermouth.com... then again, everyone there is just a bunch of 15yr olds who listen to death/grind/doom/black-the-more-underground-the-bands-i-listen-to-are-the-heavier-i'll-look-in-the-eyes-of-the-kids-in-my-school-or-on-internet...

Guess what buddy? Anthrax is heavy just as Rob Zombie is heavy and just as Black Sabbath is heavy! All 3 aforementioned bands don't have none of the elements (Anthrax w/Bush) that so many of the kids deem heavy: double-bass blast beats or black/death metal vocals or speed... but they are heavier than most of the bands you probably listen to... fuckin' rubberhead (Milano quote)

My point is, eventhough the Bushtrax is less thrash metal nowadays, this band still makes killer songs whether you like it or not... True, their songs are not as thrashy (read: fast tempoed) as before, but only great bands and great people evolve... I'm sick and tired of people being stuck in the past - move on people, the only way is up! and that's what Anthrax have been doing in the metal music: moving up, innovating, while staying true to themselves - if that in itself isn't praise worthwhile, I don't know what is.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

P.S. Journey's end: respect others and the others will respect you - tastes can be discussed, but never unrespected.

Peace!

A: I don't post on blabbermouth.com, and most likely never will.
B: I'm 27, not 15.
Guess what buddy? Anthrax is heavy just as Rob Zombie
I think I just about pissed my pants when I read that. The statement speaks for itself, I wont even waste the time to rip into you for saying such nonsense.

I didn't think I really showed any disrespect until it was given to me. I thought I had a legit question, and wanted serious answers. I know a lot of metalheads, yet none of them that I know like newer anthrax. Or at least none of them I know will admit it if they do. So while I was sifting through the boards one day I though I would stop by the Anthrax board to see what the people on this board felt, if newer Anthrax was widely accepted, or if the people here were mostly into the older releases.

So Mr. Mentalmeltdown, there is really no reason to get your panties in a twist because your 15 year old mindset is only familiar with three bands, Anthrax, Zombie, and Sabbath :p and you think these are the pinnacle of heaviness.
You want to stereotype, "death/grind/doom/black-the-more-underground-the-bands-i-listen-to-are-the-heavier-i'll-look-in-the-eyes-of-the-kids-in-my-school-or-on-internet", I can do the same

That sounds pretty disrespectful to me, and that was in your opening post, hence my disrespect of you.

As I said before, if you don't like the new stuff, fine, that's your opinion, which you're entitled to, but to talk down to us for having to "admit" that we like it is just being an asshole.

Take a hike.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is called "flaming." The best way to deal with one of these "flamers" is to not take the "flame bait." This thread is proof of what happens when people such as this are not ignored.

Class dismissed. :D
