That is indeed what many people who claim to be satanists today define it as. However, imo, it's a misinterpretation due to confusing of terms, and also leads a negative backlash from established religions due to name not content. The Satanism linked to the Christian theology should be the only true and valid Satanism. The rest of it, while sharing some common themes in terms of liberation, self-sufficiency and cynicism, is better described, for all purposes, by terms like nihilism, deism or atheism (depending on variation sometimes even anti-christianism).

There is no misinterpretation in satanism, at least in satanist themselves.

Satanism shouldn't be linked to christian theology, because a) it's not religion (you're mixing satan worshipping and satanism here) and b) it's against christian moral codes.

Most BM is nihilistic and atheistic, some is anti-christian, but very little of it is actually satanistic the way I define those. Now, of course, those are simply terms to ease explanation and classification, but I think the way you (and many other people whether in support or opposition of the ideology) use these terms leads to unnecessary confusion and misunderstandings. I would also not blame it entirely on the christians for the backlash, because it's partly the fault of specific BM artists who are, in essence, engaged in semi-professional trolling of the Christian church.

Arcane, I'm not in any church or any other organized religion, so I don't follow any rules what other "satanists" say. This doesn't apply to BM, which has simple rules.
