p.s.: BLACKSPIRIT, i know i'm new here, but are you a male or female? all you Scandinavians are so beautiful, it's hard to tell sometimes.

p.p.s.: for all of you Swedes and Norwegians--my name is garth, but should i have an A-ring (you know: that little circle above the a) instead of just an "a" in my name or...? i'm really quite dying to know.

Hrmm.... First off, I'm female >)

Secondly, do you really want an å (Å) in your name? hehe...

Then to your very first question. You have to upload the
avatar you've made yourself to a server on the net.
Either borrow some webspace from someone, or sign up
for a free account somewhere )

Lastly, I need to get some sleep! >|;oP

right, but in Norwegian, how would you pronounce Gårth as opposed to Garth? i thought that the A-ring was just another way of adding an "a", like Gaarth, no?

for example, my name comes from asgårth and midgårth, and all that Norse mythology jazz, and so it follows that my name could have an "å" and not be pronounced "gerth" as opposed to the proper pronunciation of "garth."

please set me straight on this and thanks!

The Å is the same as "aa". I have no clue on how to discribe
the å, Somber should do it >) hehe...

Maybe when you say "loan" the oa is very similar to the å )
Or like the o in "song")

Thanks Blackspirit! i just knew that it had to be true about å=aa!! HaHA!!

Cool, now all i have to do is actually learn Norwegian and i'll be in business!

Agressor you may not believe it but there are really some ppl. here in Germany that can pronounce a th ;) Not many *heh* but some.
I have native english speakers in my family :p

Ah, it's about language and pronunciation, and I almost missed it!

Accents SUCK.I'm glad german does not have some.. :p

What do you mean by that, Rabenreich?

Call my name thrice and I'll appear! *poof*
Here I am...

There is no equivalent of "å" in standard English. However, in Scottish and Irish dialects, you will find at least an approximation. Think of how a word like "goat" would be pronounced by a Scot or a Irishman. It's a pure vowel, not a diphthong. Those who know German will recognize the "å" as being similar to German "o".

I've always thought of the å as the aw in paw.

Well, this depends on how you pronounce "paw". Since you're from the USA, your pronuciation of it will almost sound like the Swedish (Norwegian?) long "a" as in "tala". A British person would pronounce "paw" more like the "å", but not quite, of course.

Oh yeah, sure. But we have umlauts and "ß". Any better? I think special letters and symbols spice up a language.

Where would "here" be?

Right but I do not have to learn my own language

True. Are we lucky our mother tongue is German then? ;)

Yeah, as I said; I don't really know these things! hehe...
I'm glad Somber showed up >) When I think about it
again, the å is very much like the o in "song")

And yeah, Phyros' new avi is really cool!)
