Who cares? Truth is not a popularity contest. I'm right, you're wrong. Now move along.

Haha, I gave up reading this thread after I read this. He likes to use the word "pseudo" and particularly dislikes pseudo-intellectuals it seems. Ironic really given his tendency to fit as many "big" words into a sentence as possible to try and maintain his self-imposed status as an intellectual superior. Yes, I understand what he is saying but along with the arrogant statement above and all the crap I've read on anus.com (after reading another thread mentioning that site here), he simply comes across as a narrow-minded, self-important tit. And they're no fun at parties are they?
Anyway, I'm sure he will laugh this off and see me as some sort of cultural serf who can't possible understand "genuine art" but hey, it's not like his opinion is more important than anyone else's anyway.

Well, hanging around fake, wanna-be intellectuals isn't exactly my favorite past-time. I don't see what is wrong with this.

in pe's defense, his musical tastes are more developed than demiurge. he may suckle at the teat of Prozac a bit, but at least he likes Pain of Salvation (and, i'm assuming, other bands of different varieties).

Just wind Planetary up and watch him go- I think we should all be happy to have him back.

Another band that went from very good, to dreadfully bad, is Fear Factory. SOul, Demanufacture, and Fear is the mindkiller, were all very very good. It seems since they put out Fear IS the Mindkiller EP, they have gotten much worse with each album- Digimortal was just awful.

coincidentally, my response to the thread topic would be darkane. "rusted angel" (thanks to mackrory, esp.) rocked, but ever since they got the new vocalist, they've been really bland.

Don't try to justify , people always catalogue each other

That's what I first thought, too. Insanity was merely OK, and Expanding Senses was dreadfully sub-par, IMO.

In my opinion, not really. Look at it this way, Velvet Darkness They Fear was at least listenable goth-metal. Assembly is like this trance-techno-industrial-eurocore thing.
just look at it lyrically:

Filthy harlots - the Lord's grape!
With lore ornamented entreating;
Hollow hearted, heart-departed -
Yet thou reapest the blooming rose -
When 'tis the weed which is to be swath'd

I do, in the blooming flower, pleasure
find!
And me in the yesterday's bind?!
Innocence is reserved for the meek:
Of naught is my grasp ne'er to be!

Hah! - for thee even a hound holdeth the throne.
Unwanted child of mother! - Plague of plagues!
Father of leprous children.
I wield ye to stint this brawl!
Nigh is the ford - yet harken! - do not thwart!
Desirest thou to do it withal,
I shall cause thy body by one head too short!
Sayest ye nay to my boon;
Then wilt thou from bloodshed swoon!

Err me not! - Must ye bethink my foolhardiness!
Be vanished! - Be banished! -
If ye deemest me not wroth.
My hand hieth to unsheathe the sword
Lest thou dost totter -
Whid along! - Wherefore irk my haughtiness?

No man... No man at all!,
Wherefore bereave
Be it lord or beggar
The kine of the sward?
Bereaveth my dignity!
Wherefore holdest thou for
Me such a quality scowl?
Loom my darling sun -
Bear the scarlet colour!

Turn baby, turn
You've got the feeling for it
I'm the music
Dance with me, sway
Are you ready for me?
Take a chance on me.
Turn baby, turn
You've got the feeling for it
I'm in tune now
Sing to me, say
Are you ready for me?
Take a chance on me
The downtown boy in a daylight rouse
Getting ready for the night's ploy
And he's waiting on top a topless house
Or sliding down to his luminous, viscose clothes
I want to go with that French girl
She said, "Sure, do you want to make friends with me?"
Tres bien, tres bien
Hey, I'm not crying anymore
Turn baby, turn
You've got the feeling for it
I'm the music
Dance with me, sway
Are you ready for me?
Take a chance on me.
He put on his shirt knowing he's pert
Tearing 'cross the crowd in a gloss
He said, " Missy, don't be so pushy, eh"
Or thought he did it anyway
The words that he knew,
'Voulez-vous', 'Rendezvous'
Just made him black and blue
He wanted to go-go
She said, "No-no"
So he's waiting for next episode
I want to go with that French girl
She said, "Sure, do you want to make friends with me?"
Tres bien, tres bien
Hey, I'm not crying anymore.
it's enough to make a grown man weep.

Metallica

Kill 'em all was good
Ride the lightning was awesome
Master of puppets had some good stuff
...and justice for all they tried too hard
black album they sold out
load/reload was horrible
st. anger proved they sold out

Slayer, everything after Divine intervention was crap, they should've stopped after reign in blood or seasons of the abyss, those were their best albums, sure divine intervention was cool for a while, but it didn't live up to those other two albums

Opeth - Deliverence is okay but Damnation was horrible. Sure it's cool they did all accoustic melodies and actual singing but it gets annoying when they over do it, Black Water park was their climax.

the Kovenant - started out as an awesome Black metal band but everything after nexus polis didn't compare

i know theres lots more but i'm too lazy to post them this second :p
