I'm afraid the current Katatonia is pretty unique. There are loads of Brave Murder Day rip offs though.

i've been looking too,.... tons of people say the current kata is like mainstream rock or whatever... but no band sounds like them really! maybe on the outside after a quick shallow listen... but Kata has all this other amazing stuff going on and i too am looking for a band that does the style... no luck

I read in some recent interview of Jonas that he wouldn't mind if they become mainstream as long as the label does the work pushing them in the mainstream and not the band because they really don't care.

I have to yet to hear a band operating in a similar mode to TD/LFDGD Katatonia...a testament to either the band's uniqueness or that I haven't been searching long enough for one.

I've never heard a band sounding like TD... But if you like the song Quiet World (Saw You Drown EP), you should listen to Mogwai (the albums "Come On Die Young" (especially the song choky) and "Ep+6").
