Bands with suipid lyrics

I get sick of bands like Dimmu Borgir sometimes(especially with their most recent releases) because I'm tired of bands preaching to me about how much christ sucks balls, and how "evil" relgion is and such. At the same time claiming Misanthropia. It's ironic..the one thing that might kill humanity would be religion...so I wish they would stop writing lyrics trying to enlighten people..or "free" them....I would write lyrics focused on the death of the human race rather then saving us all from religion....thats why I think those early black metal bands were awsome(early bathory, venom, Immortal, Mayhem with their pure fucking armegeddon) sure the lyrics were sometimes cheesy but atleast if was fukkn evil.

OK, sure I wouldn't say those lyrics are "deep" or anything but I rather listen to them then another song about how bad Jesus christ is, that was all I was saying. I like that katatonia don't focus on these things and more the darkness of life which is just a plus of the band. Actually I liked more the mayhem lyrics written from De mysterriis Dom sathanas anyway...

I like Talking Heads... but lots and lots of their lyrics are quite stupid.... unless they are actually very deep and I am too intellectually devoid to understand them...

I hate to say it because I love the band, but the some of the lyrics from the latest My Dying Bride are awfully cheeeeeesy:

Yeah, it has been said, but what really gets me is how stunning and obscure the lyrics were on Turn loose the Swans, and how un-obscure and lovey dovey they are on the newest album. The lyrics on the first 2 albums are some of the best I've ever read.
I agree totally....infact most of the lyrics on the new my dying bride album seem trite and less ambiguous then their early recrods...it can't even compare with turn loose the swans or their others.
I'll disagree. It's no where near the cheesiness of powermetal bands. In fact, I think Aaron Stainthorpe writes very good lyrics. Look at songs like Catherine Blake. Actually, the Love's Intolerable Pain lyrics are very well written, too.

I find the lyrics to Thy Raven Wings to be quite amazing, but that middle section of Love's Intolerable Pain kills me, I just don't like it. Some of the verses in the song are well written however. Aaron certainly improved his technical ability to sing, his vibrato and knack for staying in tune has improved greatly and sounds great on A Line.... I will certainly agree that some Power Metal bands have just awful lyrics though, good lord have I heard some CRAP!
