Bands you should have heard by now...but haven't

Okay, what I mean by this is--are there any bands that are well-known and you've heard OF them (and may be planning to check out at some point), but have never actually heard before (or if you did, you didn't know it at the time)?


I'll start, and this should get me laughed at...

Iron Maiden.

People on this forum and elsewhere seem to talk about them all the time. I know they were one of the better-known (and arguably mainstream) metal bands out there...but I wouldn't recognize them if I heard them.

Anyway...

I heard Pink Floyd for the first time about a month ago. Yeah.

I also haven't heard that Dredg band. It's come up quite a bit in these forums so I think i'll have to check them out at some point.

Dredg is pretty cool.
It took me a while to check out "In The Woods..." but I downloaded some of their stuff from Omnio last night and have yet to take a listen. I'm listening to Darkane - Layers of Lies right now.... fscking awesome...
