Batman: The Dark Knight

I would love an age restricted movie theater, say 21+ or 25+. Or at least have one screen for it. That way, those who go to watch and enjoy a movie can do exactly that.

Do you think that would help much? the rare times I go, I see bad behavior across the board, so I don't know that age-limited would help. Do you see it mainly from the younger set?

But it would help avoid crying babies and children running down the aisles at least, and I am all for that. You would think that going to a 10 or later showing would cut that out, but sadly that's not the case. I see 4-year-olds, never mind 16-year-old, out later than I was allowed out until I was grown! lol

I'm seeing this tomorrow, but I do fear I'm going to have the urge to reach forward and snap a neck or five. I feel ya, Nailz. Athens, being an ages 16-22 hub, is pretty bad about having multitudes of idiots swarming to a new movie.

Hopefully .... hopefully ... I'll be too absorbed into the movie to give a shit.

what can I say other than this movie should win an oscar and heath ledger was da shit. flawless story, amazing action just fucking awesome. Really happy with the sequel.

On Theatre people, we only had one guy. He clapped and laughed at all the big explosions, mother fucker was annoying

CHRISTIAN BALE AS JOHN CONNOR HELLZ YA

Ok, after much anticipation of movie combined with a lot of convincing, I did agree to go see the movie this morning at 930 at the imax. We got there at 8:45, and arrived to a LINE because the theater itself wasn't even open. Already I felt that this was going to be a huge mistake, and not only were we going to get ubershitty seats, but this was going to sell out, increasing douchebag contamination to the point of saturation. I convinced myself to TRY to think positively, and we didn't get center seats, but we weren't on the edge, and as a bonus, in the middle-back, where I prefer, so far, so good. Then the douchiness started ... 5 kids next to us, obviously highschool, yammering on and on about being jackasses, and one girl says "OMG IF I FALL ASLEEP LEAVE ME ALONE." .. Fuck. Wonder-fucking-ful.

Lights go down, previews come up, chattering doesn't drop off. At all. Awesome. I'm ready to get up and leave, but I waited. WB logo pops up, chattering continues. I sigh several times.

First scene comes on. Instantly, and for the next 10 minutes, you can literally hear a pin drop during lulls I am litterally FLOORED by the awesomeness of the crowd start to finish. No one laughed louder than me at the extremely quick paced humor of the Joker, and there was nothing obnoxious at all going on. I enjoyed the movie thougherally.

We just got back. Great movie. However, we both liked Iron Man more. I was really distracted during the whole thing by their maneuvering to keep it from being R rated. Other than that, I thought it rocked. HL was good in that part, but I don't think his performance was worthy of an Oscar. I have no doubt that he will win one though for sentimental reasons. I really liked Christian Bale in the first one, and I thought he was perfect for Bruce Wayne. However, I didn't like him at all as Batman. Something about the Batman voice or something.

Although I completely respect your opinion, almost everything you said I disagree with completely.

1. Iron Man was very good, but The Dark Knights story, action and dramatic scenes, CGI, Cast, and tone was way better than Ironman in my opinion.
2. Maneuvering to keep it from an "R" rating. Didn't get that at all. Neither did the 30+ people that I've talked to in person that have seen it. Hmmm....
3. Heath Ledger's Joker not oscar worthy? Thats where you are wrong no matter your opinion. I went in thinking it was a sentimental nod as well but was amazed by his performance. Way more than anticipated. Way more!!!!
4. Christian Bale was better in this one than Batman Begins. His character has grown into his own identity.

Don't forget if you still don't agree we can go a couple rounds in Impulse? LOL Just kidding. Glad you liked it though. Everyone has a different opinion.

Went to the midnight showing. Far better than Batman Begins (Katie Holmes singlehandedly ruins that one) but my major issue is with Two Face. What the fuck? Yeah, my skin got all sorts of burned but hey, nothing happened to my eye! That was so anticlimactic for me when they first revealed him.

And no issues with audience in my area. But then, I've never had any issues with midnight showings. One mom even brought her daughter who was probably around 6 years old. She was even wearing a Batman cape & mask. It's almost always the best/respectful crowds that show up for midnight showings. Went to the new all DLP theater that I've now seen 4 films in and don't think I can ever go back to the projectors if it's not the indie film theater.

Have to say, I'm really looking forward to Watchmen now. Thinking whether or not I should read the comic or just let myself enjoy the film a year from now.

A couple things.
First off it was AWESOME, great movie and Leger was phenomenal!!! I really think that Eckhart (sp?) deserves some major kudos as well, he really stole alot of the screen time away from Bale, who does the best Batman there ever was but his screen performance was less than both Ledger and Eckhart in my opinion... Great cast all the way around though and a major improvement casting Maggie G. I certainly hope they continue the series!! I am going to go see it again tomorrow.

Side note: What the hell was that other movie Bale is going to be in next year? That looks kick ass as well... And the other DC movie Watchmen? trippy!!!!

Are you a fan of the comic? Two Face has always looked like that. They did a great job of making him look like he does in the comic books, and I thought Aaron Eckhart played the character great. So much better than that horrid Tommy Lee Jones version. My only qualm was Bale's Batman voice. Seems like he was overdoing it and often sounded like Batman had to take a massive dump. But it was a great movie...

But comic version is more melted, less burnt. He still has eyelids at the very least that could potentially make sense on why his eye had no damage. Once your eyelid is burned away, your eye is not going to be fine.

Oh yeah helllooo Terminator!!!! Thats cool Bale is John Connor!!!!

I guess the new series is setting that one up?

Bear

Nope. Salvation is supposed to be a restart of the franchise ignoring everything that has occurred in the last 3 films. The series left off from T2 and simply ignored everything in the third film.
Unfortunately McG tied to the movie gives me little hope. At least the horrendous story that was rumored is supposed to be fake.

They are like comparing apples to oranges. Yeah, they're both fruit, but that's about all that's similar. You can like one better than the other even though they are much different. I think Batman was better for story, but the rest was either even or just plain different. For instance, IMO you cannot say that the tone was better in Batman. The tone was so different between the two that you can't say one was better. I thought the tone of Iron Man was perfect for that movie. The tone of Batman was perfect for that movie. But that's my opinion.

2. Maneuvering to keep it from an "R" rating. Didn't get that at all. Neither did the 30+ people that I've talked to in person that have seen it. Hmmm....

Did you notice that the bank manager at the beginning who was squirming around on the ground after being shot was not bleeding? His suit didn't even have a hole in it. Did you notice there wasn't one drop of blood in the movie? Did you notice that you never (IIRC) saw one person get shot? You saw people shooting, and bodies, but not people getting shot. Did you notice that every time somebody got really messed up, it was so quick of a scene change that you never really saw anything? Did you notice that when Batman fired his little doohickies on his arm armor into the Joker's face, giving him the upper hand in their fight, Joker was uninjured. In fact, anybody who got messed up in the movie pretty much just disappeared (except for Two-Face of course).

3. Heath Ledger's Joker not oscar worthy? Thats where you are wrong no matter your opinion. I went in thinking it was a sentimental nod as well but was amazed by his performance. Way more than anticipated. Way more!!!!

Ok then. The Q has spoken. ;)

I liked him more in the first one. He wasn't bad in this one by any stretch of the imagination. His "Batman voice" annoyed the crap outta me.

I was just in Impulse the other day (a week day). Didn't have what I was looking for. I was disappointed.
