Funny. The first two Death albums arw the only ones I really love. Actually I haven't even listened to the last two Death albums yet because the direction of the band really didn't peek my interest. I don't know, Spiritual Healing, Human and Induviudal Thought Patterns are technically good albums, but a little emotionally stale, especially in contrast the visceral force of Leprosy.

I need to listen to all the death album again or at least the first six but I think I might agree the first two are my favorite maybe. Idk I was listening to Individual thought patterns and I can't get into it like I would even though it is well done album and I enjoy it but hey I'm weird with death metal. I generally don't listen to more than one album from a death metal band and I generally have to be in the mood for it (Carcass is an exception). That said in interested in listening through the first 6 Death albums again but would it be wrong if I end up liking Leprosy the most?

I wouldn't mind covering a few more death metal classics that I've overlooked. Here's what I've heard from the above list.

Love: Incantation

Like: Autopsy, Cyrptopsy, Immolation, Suffocation, Therion

Luke warm: At the Gates, Morbid Angel (I know, I know...), Sepultura

Other DM acts I love are Dismember (Like an Everflowing Stream), Nocturnus (The Key), Demiliche, Demigod and the first two Death records.

So what from the above list am I missing out on?

Massacra, Deicide, Atheist :)

Have you listened to Carcass? Their three middle albums are all masterpieces( I like the first and the last also). My favorite album by them is Symphonies of sickness. They were pretty versitile. Also Atheist and Deicide damn good too.

Thanks for the recs guys. Gave Legions and Piece of Time a listen today. Both were positive first impressions, especially the Atheist record. I'll probably give Symphonies of Sickness a listen tomorrow.

Symphonies never gets old completely brutal and disgusting.

Meh, Cannibal Corpse is atrocious :erk:

Meh, I can agree on that they are "mainstream" in the Death Metal community but I still think their music is great. Nothing wrong with Tomb of the Mutilated but I would still say George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher > Chris Barnes.

Good lord, what a shitty band...are you seriously asking me this?

I included Entombed, whom I don't care for. What more do you want?

Seriously? I couldn't give a shit about Entombed tbh. But to say that Cannibal Corpse's Eaten Back To Life and Butchered at Birth shouldn't even be considered on the list is ludicrous.

Of course cannibal corpse should be on the poll. It amazes me there's two votes for therion and no one gives a fuck about necrophobic's second album, hell even unleashed is second class, no way those two should be on the poll.
