I wouldn't count on it. They started writing in February and as far as I know haven't hit the studio yet (they tend to spend a bit of time in there). Okay toolband.com has a new front page for the first time since it started, perhaps things are progressing faster than I expected.

I of course can't get the fucking news page to load right now (even though EVERY OTHER FUCKING PAGE WORKS FINE) so who knows, fuck me I'm not sure if anything else on the planet pisses me off more than a slow loading POS website. There just ain't no excuse these days.

2005 has been a surprisingly good year for metal so far.

Good/great releases:

Blood Red Throne - Altered Genesis
Immolation - Harnessing Ruin
Taake - Hordaland Doedskvad
Equilibrium - Turis Fratyr
Nokturnal Mortum - Weltanschauung
Defleshed - Reclaim The Beat
Origin - Echoes Of Decimation
Deeds Of Flesh - Crown Of Souls
Aborted - The Archaic Abbatoir
Hate Eternal - I, Monarch
Disgorge - Parallels Of Infinite Torture

Releases that I'll have to give more spins before passing a judgement:

Gehenna - WW
Astrofaes - Those Whose Past Is Immortal
Drudkh - The Swan Road
Belphegor - Goatreich: Fleshcult
Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
Moonsorrow - Verisäkeet
Carnival Of Coal - Collection Prestige

Releases I'm looking forward to:

The upcoming Cryptopsy record
Naglfar - Pariah
Vile - The New Age Of Chaos
The upcoming Dehumanized record
A possible upcoming Gorgoroth album
The upcoming Kampfar album
Severe Torture - Blood Letting
Aeternus - Hexaeon
1349 - Hellfire
Carpathian Forest - Fuck You All

Pariah is really good. Especially song 8. The production could have been thicker, but at least I think the drums aren't triggered in any way. I am a sucker for melodic black metal :).

Good/great releases:
Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
Novembers Doom - The Pale Haunt Departure
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Seemless - Seemless

Releases that I'll have to give more spins before passing a judgement:
Drudkh - The Swan Road
Circus Maximus - The 1st Chapter
Corrosion of Conformity - In the Arms of God

Releases I'm looking forward to:
Nevermore
Zero Hour

Bad news. I like this CD. Which means you'll probably hate it. "Pariah" is easily their most accesible CD.

Zod

Your taste isn't half bad, though? At least you're not one of the Slough Feg fanboys (I think), which is an enormous plus in my book. :loco:

I also semi-share your views on Bathory's "Hammerheart", but don't tell Erik as he will bring his fellow heavy metallers to my house and beat me up ;)

New Mars Volta > anything else I've heard this year.

Will check out Ulver, Slough Feg, Hammers, and... that's about it by choice. Don't want to buy any/many/stuff more CDs this year.

Releases I really enjoy:
Deathspell Omega - Kénöse
Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny of Souls
Taake - Doedskvad

Releases I tired quickly of but still accept as good:
Dark Tranquillity - Character
Drudkh - The Swan Road
Overkill - ReliXIV
Kreator - Enemy of God

Release that's just plain ridiculous:
Black Witchery - Upheaval of Satanic Might

Don't go there. :) :) :)

I won't, as I'm not especially into getting beat up by gangs of smelly Swedes :)

Fun facts about Bathory!
- Elton John was a guest-composer on "One Rode To Asa Bay"
- The Nordland saga is a tribute to the gay club "Exotic Nordland" (found in Bodø)
- If you play Blood On Ice backwards, you'll hear Quorthon saying "Guys, this Aloe Vera gel feels SOOOO good when applied to your penis area after shaving"
- The anagram for "One Rode To Asa Bay" is "A SEABOARD ONE TOY". Seaboard is a famous gay sex toy
