Best of 2005 - new, old, on the fence, disappointing, and still to come

Best releases : Dredg (oh well...) , Jesu , Primordial , The Mars Volta (good one I must admit) , Red Sparowes , Pantheist ; less good but still :headbang:: Taake , Callisto

Songs of the Year : Pelican - March into the Sea ; Primordial - The Coffin Ships & Tragedy's Birth ; Callisto - Cold Stare

Chances are the new Sigur Ros will be #1 for me this year .

Best shit I've discovered not of 2005 : Sigur Ros, Mono :D , Massive Attack , Drawn

You don't happen to be Black Winter Day do you? :tickled: I can see Genesis on your horizon, and a sharp drop in any metal interest. :loco:

The ones I have (or ordered) so far:
Candlemass - s/t
This is quite decent, although no "Nightfall".

Dark Tranquillity - "Character"
I got bored of this quite fast. I think I'll stick to my "The Gallery" and "Projector", thank you very much!

Drudkh - The Swan Road
Nice black metal, but I think this is their weakest so far. I might buy it, but I need "Forgotten Legends" first.

Kreator - "Enemy of God"
Well, this was certainly bland. :/

Nokturnal Mortum - "Weltanschauung" (downloaded)
I'm not all too impressed, although some tracks are nice. Maybe I'll buy it if I suddenly get a 250% raise.

Bruce Dickinson - "Tyranny of Souls"
This kicks ass. No "Chemical Wedding", but hey, that's an unreasonable demand!

Taake - "Doedskvad"
Yeah, this is good! Possibly "top of 2005" material.

I look forward to hearing:
Summoning
Deathspell Omega
Negurã Bunget
Hate Forest
Novembre
Opeth

Genesis ...I don't know much about them but don't like prog'n'co most of the time.About the Metal part.. time will tell but today : yes and no :loco:

Anyway , I have to say 2005 sucks metalwise as far as I'm concerned.

Anyone care to offer up a brief description of this band? I've obviously seen their name thrown a round a lot on this board, but have no clue what they're about. :err:

Zod

Second Wave Black-Metal at its best , classic & unique at the same time because of Hoest's specific way of composing his songs . He gathers bits from Burzum , Darkthrone , Emperor , Satyricon etc.. and yet Taake sounds unique.

They've got 3 records , Nattestid...(too lazy to type the whole thing) is pure classic Black-Metal and is generally considered as their best . The next one is more rockn'rollish and has a cleaner production but it is still 100% Black in the spirit if you see what I mean . Finally ...Doeskvad ends the band's sole trilogy on the same path : cleaner sound this time again , still rockin and at times more melancholic. Not to mention that there is no compromise on this album again. Now Hoest , the mainman in the band is gonna waste his time in pointless things like Ragnarok (sp?)

The tracks you uploaded from this band blew me away. Where can I score this demo?

I purchased the last one from Hellride Music. You can contact the band directly though, at falloftheidols@yahoo.co.uk

:headbang:

The demo is just a standard Memorex cd-r with no pro-sticker on the cd itself, just the inserts for the jewel case. If you cannot get in contact with anyone, just let me know and I will burn a copy or send it through email perhaps for your listening enjoyment. :Spin:

The highlights of the year so far for me:

Queens of The Stoneage - Lullabies To Paralyze
The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Atavism
Acid King - III
Mournful Congregation - The Monad of Creation
Isole - Forevermore
Deadbird - The Head and The Heart
Reverend Bizarre - Slave of Satan (single)
Thee Plague of Gentlemen - Primula Pestis
Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness
Taake - ...Doedskvad

Shitting my pants with anticipation for:

Reverend Bizarre
Dredg
Hammers of Misfortune
Negura Bunget

I'd love to have that demo. I have two tracks--the one you uploaded via yousendit and The Walk. I really dig the band and aside from having the songs would like to be able to review the demo for MetalReview. I emailed them requesting a promo, but didn't get a reply. Any chance you'd upload the other two tracks?

Let me know what the other track is titled, that I uploaded for you, then check your pm's in a bit.
