I literally hated this album when I first heard it. And still think it's boring..There are no solos, not one trace of the IF sound but It be decent if another band wrote it. Touch of red has that awesome riff and epic chorus. So I picked it.

F(r)iend!!! Very hard decision, one of my favorite IF albums, quite a few good tracks to choose from.
"In Search For I", by far. Cool solo, thrashy riff, great chorus... it's one of the only STYE tracks that sounds identifiably like classic In Flames. The live version from Used & Abused is the best though -- Anders does a deep growl on the chorus.

Dial595 escape I liked when the album came out...But I see your point. lol Alot of these songs are lifeless...I hate Like you better dead..That riff just repeats and repeats.

Only songs I really like are: Dead Alone, My Sweet Shadow, Evil In A Closet, In Search For I.
And isn't Bottled just a horrid song? Lmao
Like You Better Dead = worst In Flames song ever.
and about the riff repeating: that's a major problem with most of A Sense Of Purpose. ( + horrible vocals, whiny melodies and the lack of originality )

BOTTLED might not be the worst In Flames song ever I really think its the worst song out of Sweden ! lol omg it his horrid.
Eventually picked Dial-595, though it was difficult. I'm one of a very few you enjoys STYE, not as much as previous albums, but I don't hate it, and I don't mind Like You Better Dead either. Funny how when TQP first came out, it was greeted with universal hatred, but with the release of Come Clarity that song (and the album, actually) suddenly isn't so bad. Oh, and yeah, Bottled fuckin sucks. MSS also bores me to tears nowadays.
I fucking love STYE, I don't get the hate on "Dial-595 escape". It's a great song IMO.
I understand the hate on "The Quiet Place" & "Like you better dead" though, I don't like them very much at all. I digged TQP in the beginning, but it doesn't last more than like 50 listens.
