I've been doubting between "The Divine Wings of Tragedy" and "V", but finally TDWOT won the prize!
The Accolade, The Divine Wings of Tragedy, Candlelight Fantasia (just for that 3 songs I voted this album :Spin: ), The Eyes of Medusa, Sea of Lies, Of Sins and Shadows, Out of the Ashes, Pharaoh.... Just perfect! Very difficult... cause I think "V" is a perfect album too, but well... in terms of favorite songs, TDWOT wins :)

My thoughts exactly.
Divine Wings is just such an amazing album. I love absolutely every track, apart from Pharoah, whose chorus IMO is terrible.
Next comes V - just behind Divine Wings, both because that was the first SymX I properly listened to, and also because it's just so damn good. Who can help but sing along to Evolution? Who? That's right. No one.

Odyssey is my next favourite, then Twilight. That's not to say I dislike either, in fact I view them among the best in my cd collection. It's just that Divine Wings and V are so immense that they rank higher than the highest in my mind.

Divine Wings of Tragedy track 5. I personally dislike the melody of the chorus.

I realize that. :) I was just picking about it being mispelled so often - light-heartedy! I'm not a stickler for that sort of thing by any means, but when it comes to the song's name... ;)

I kick myself every day for misspelling my Forum name when I chose it. I tried to get the right one, but someone else has it who never posts, and I couldn't reach him to see if he would let me have it!!! I'm so damn stupid !! It's really embarrassing.

No no no, you're not stupid. Just human - we all do stuff like that! Maybe you should contact Mark and see if he can change it for you?

The Damnation Game solely for the fact that no other SX song has approached the perfection of the two epics "The Edge Of Forever" and "A Winter's Dream".

Also, LOADS of melody, Pinnella's sound, Romeo's guitar tone, and lots of neoclassicism. AAAAAH!

Then it probably goes like this:

Divine Wings
Twilight
The Odyssey
V- The album really HAS grown on me, but I think the others have more musical.......strength!.

Debut(Though with the re-recorded version, who knows?!?)

The best Symphony X album is The Odyssey. The reason is that Russell is my favorite singer and he just sings better and better. He was great on DWOT, but not perfect. On V he was almost perfect. On Star One something happened to him and he just blew me away. On The Odyssey he's perfect and amazing. Hearing him live is like "I died and I've come to heaven".

The second reason is the quality of the sound. I wasn't very impressed by it on their previsous records (OK, but not :yow: ) but on this one everything sounds so clear.

Third reason (also concerns the singer) is the choruses alá "I've betrayed - slowly fade, I repent my inner plea". I know some people have complained the good old SX choruses are nowhere on the record, but I think that's good. I always thought they kinda didn't fit the big picture, sticking out too much. On the new record there are parts like that (just listen to the song "The Odyssey") only they are much better arranged and their places are well chosen. I only think there are too few of these. More choruses that fit the music!!!

As for the songs, there are about as many amazing songs on The Odyssey as there are on Divine Wings. So there you have it.

DWoT is, IMO, the greatest album ever recorded. I could listen to this one over and over for
like all eternity. After that, I'd say The Odessey, Twilight, and V in last place. Might be because
I haven't listened to it as much as I have the other albums.

Edit: I think Praraoh rocks too, so nyah!

I don't think so. The bass riff at the beginning is cool. Thats about it. The rest of the song is really cheesy. Mainly the keyboards at the beginning and the whole chorus. I can't stand these parts. Thats why The Odyssey owns divine wings personally. There is nothing cheesy at all about that album. Its perfect in my opinion.

I love the intro odd-time egyptian thing. And thom's bass line is mega-cool. I love the creepy, eeiry, verse. The chorus is kinda cheesey but the rest of the song is kick-ass. I also love the soft bit with the subtle key change over russ'es harmonized vocals. Then how it changes into that really heavy bit.

But the solo is is kick ass. Romeo doing some weird harmonized scales under Pinnela's "riding" keyboard line. And Romeo's Phrigian Dominant solo is mega cool.

I love it!

Thats cool man. I guess I just personally didn't take to that song as much as others. I'll give it a couple more listens.
