As already stated, many of these laws date back to Puritan-ethics, which of course come from England and Europe primarily. A great many laws will never change in the USA, they're just not enforced. And it's not just limited to sex-related offences either. There are laws against owning gerbils, curse words, etc. All sorts of bizarre things.
And for the record, *most* of the 50 states have a law stating the illegality of sodomy and oral sex, which was considered LEWD CONDUCT by our Puritan fathers. So don't blame the USA, blame the religious tightwads from Europe.

So fucking what? It´s none of Europe´s or Englang´s responsibility. If a community cannot change/ update laws that are 200 years old, it´s their pitiful shame. Right? So why to blame "Puritan fathers" as haven´t had these kind of laws for decades?

In a criminal law class that I took when I was in college we had an assignment where we had to find absurd laws that are still in the books. Well at the end we found out that they are still in the books because it takes too much time and money, if you can believe that, to erase them from the law books. So they are just left there but will never actually be enforced.

Laws of that kind cannot be justified. You know it and I know it. So, nothing to do with ignorance. It´s so useless to say that this and this influence, whether it be law, comes elsewhere. I was just wondering, that´s why I sent this thread.
