Apart from the obvious one's (MDB, Anathema etc.) I really don't listen to (or know) that many British bands. Especially newer ones. Can you guys name some, and give a short description of what they sound like?? I know there was a similar thread on this board a while back, but that was mostly the best known one's.

A couple of names I've heard recently are Ship of Fools and The Enchanted. Are these any good?? I'm mostly into melodic metal (vague, I know).

OK. A perfect opportunity to post my list of UK "underground" bands who's sites i am aware of.

The Enchanted are the best band in the country (bar MDB) IMO. If you like melodic metal then you should really also check out Evanesce, Vae Solis & Phallicide.

And whatever you do don't miss out on Skaldic Curse!

I've heard a bit of Antimatter. I got that live acoustic stuff they put up for d/l and that was amazing, but the only 1 I've got from the studio album is "Psalms" which didn't impress me that much. I guess "Cruel Humanity" is your band. I'll have a listen :)

Thanks for the list Kozmos! I've heard of quite a few of them, just not heard most of them. I'll try and have a listen to a few later and post my thoughts.

Thanks again

Hey Kozmos, cheers for the props, but I'd like to inform everyone that Phallicide.co.uk is down, has been for a long time, and it's looking permanent.:( In the meantime, you can check us out at http://www.mp3.com/phallicide or if you're inn the area at the Peel in Kingston on January 25th, with Desolation (hi Stu), The Enchanted, Slaughter of Souls and a bunch of others. Check out http://www.winterchaos.co.uk for details.

Cool, I didn't realise it has turned into a kind of mini-tour. I like the look of the way this has been organised, with the dedicated website etc.

It's a really good mix of bands. I look forward to the 25th :)

I personally like Biomechanical!!! They aren't Melodic Death. They are a cross between Judas Priest and Machine Head. At least to my ears.
Biomechanical are the best u.k band at the moment , with Shadowkeep ...probably they are equal ...
they are the future of metal in my opinion
i consider their style a mixture of queensryche (operation mindcrime era) , pantera, priest, with u.s.a. power metal touch
their singer is S-U-P-E-R-B-E.
and he is Greek hurray ..
so for british bands in general ...apart from the tons of older ones that are all music monuments (maiden, priest, motorhead, saxon etc) ...check out
Solstice (r.i.p.)
Skyclad
Shadowkeep
Threshold
these are mainly my favourites.
