i'd rather listen to "Poker Face" than to "Toast To The Extras" or "Safe Home".

There is a big difference. A band that is playing in a small bar that has never 'made it' is a lot different than a band like Anthrax who has had huge success as a Thrash metal band, playing huge venues, and then as the music started to change and go down in quality so did the ticket sales and venue sizes.
That is much different than lady gagga or knotb who have always been huge pop artists.
Anthrax is a well established artist. The fact that their concert attendence and record sales steadily declined once they got a new singer and changed their style speaks volumes.
So your stupid statements about how lady gaga sells out huge venues means she is good is crap. And yes I would rather see Lady Gagga that the JB era Anthrax live. At least there are a lot of hot chicks in the audience.
Does that mean Metallica's music got better? I mean their audiance grew as they changed their sound?
Your answer doesn't even fucking matter. You seem to be unabale to grasp the idea that other people's opinions may vary from yours. This is why you keep trying to justify why your opinion is the correct one. I don't care what is popular, I like the things I like. I like the music I like. Why is it so hard for you to realize that some people like the Bush era music? I mean seriously? How hard is that to grasp the entire world doesn't share your view?
Well that includes 4 out 5 memebers of anthrax.....
No 80's band is ever gonna sell the records they did then, and that go for almost any era, very few have stay relevant if your watching the charts, record sells or even audience. Music changes, styles change, people change. I've been a music fan and musician myself for three decades and shit changes. Everyone has a right to like who they like and even have the right to bitch about what they don't like, But to say Bush era was fault of decease in record sells in bullshit. every other band has seen its rise and fall, its the ones the stay around and survive that matter to me and Bushtrax made it threw two decades of music without joey and still manage to be around and kick ass. I'm glad for every era of Anthrax and would like to see them around for a few more decades. I just don't see it happening with joey or even john. I guess if they continue on after this rehash of the 80's stuff with joey as their frontman. i can only pray joey proves me wrong and shows me why i became a anthrax fan in the first place.
I'll play devils advocate here for a minute and say that I think to the Joey lovers they don't care if a new joey CD is a comercial success so much as they care that it's an awesome CD. After some tepid years of Megadeth music they went back closer to their roots and I honestly couldn't tell you if record sales reflected that or not but the music got a lot better in my opinion.
I'm curious as to what the new material will sound like.
You're right, I don't give ae damn if the new CD is a commercial success or not; I care that the material is good AND that it's Joey singing on that disc and not John. Ian's already gone on record saying that most of the material will be from the "Worship Music" disc that was recorded with Dan Nelson with Joey singing Nelson's parts. Some of it will be reworked, some of it new vocals and the rest of the disc will be made up of completely new material.
John is just a terrible front man. His stage presence is awful and he just doesn't have the personality to lead a crowd which is evident because most of the onstage banter while he was in the band came from Scott. This was evident when they went out on a small club tour about 6 months before WCFYA came out and Bush came up with this piece of brilliance at a show at the Birch Hill in Old Bridge, NJ: "are you guys ready for a guitar driven rock album?" Well, no John, I'm not really ready for that, especially from a band who has two guitar players in its ranks. What I really want is a glockenspiel driven album from you guys. Second of all, I want a THRASH album, not a rock album. Maybe if you give me a thrash album that rocks, I can accept that, although you didn't serve up one of those either.
I made up my mind 5 years ago to never support anything the band did with Bush ever again after his shitty attitude towards their opening act (Lacuna Coil) on the WCFYA tour. I went to the show at Crocodile Rocks in Allentown, PA to catch this show. First thing I see is Scott Ian walking by with a bodyguard acting like a complete diva, like he's just sold out Madison Square Garden. I guess he was pretty stoked that the venue was pretty full (and CR is not that big of a club). Lacuna Coil comes on and it seems the entire crowd (myself included) is really into their set. This was right as they were breaking in the US for their "Comalies" album, before they got picked to go on Ozzfest. They play a great set, leave the stage and 3/4 of the audiences leaves the club. Gone. Not coming back. Anthrax comes on and seem quite taken aback that the club is almost empty now. I guess John's ego couldn't handle it because he gets on the mic and asks if everyone enjoyed the opening act, to which he receives his loudest applause of the night. He proceeds to put on a disgusted face and says "yeah, well, if you like that kind of stuff." It was one of the biggest dickhead displays I've ever seen. Up to that point I'd been a fan since "Spreading the Disease" came out and I told my friend that I would no longer support the band while Bush was the singer.
Anthrax is nothing without JOHN BUSH, I will be buying Armored Saint CD's from now on. I can't wait to laugh at the new anthrax cd with bloey beladonna. Why do youthink they fired him in the 90's?
I'll just eagerly await the album with an open mind.
It might be a style change, a further album in a similar vain as WCFYA or a return to thrash...
I'm not generally opposed to bands changing their sound every now and them. In quite a few cases I've even considered it a positive thing. In my opnion, when a band sticks to the same formula album after album it tends to get a bit boring. Experimenting with new sounds, genres and ideas is often a good thing for a band. It keeps things interesting, challenging and provides motivation for the people who write and record the music.
I love the thrash-era of Anthrax, but I'm not expecting them to make a complete return to the eighties.
