Yeah. im wondering, do we Canadians have any bands that we can look to as a good inspiration of death metal bands? ive heard of two montreal bands that have been considered metal, and death metal... they are: Quo Vadis, and Ashes of Eden. has anyone heard of anything else? or is that it for canadian metal/death metal?

quite the original post there, man in black, but where they from(what part) and are they good, and are there any links to where i cn hear them? lol

Besides what's been mentioned... Gorguts (Quebec), Martyr (Quebec), Kataklysm (Quebec City), Neuraxis (Montreal) , and to a degree... Into Eternity(BC/Alberta) are death metal and maybe Soulscar (BC)... in terms of Canadian death metal with some noteriety.

You've never heard Cryptopsy (Montreal) or Strapping Young Lad (BC) but you've heard Ashes to Eden and Quo Vadis? Weirdo... Those are probably the two most famous Canadian metal bands.

Other Canadian Metal Bands not death metal but semi-famous/famous:
3 Inches of Blood
Anvil
Razor
Annihilator
Eidolon
Woods of Ypres
Slaughter (not the glam band, Chuck Schuldiner of Death was in the band for a while)
Exciter
Infernal Majesty
Sacrifice
Soothsayer
The End
Voivod
Zimmers Hole

Here's a list of 10,000+ Canadian metal bands:

Cryptopsy (Montreal) and Strapping Young Lad (BC) are definetly the ones that come to mind, them and Gorguts.

Saskatchewan, actually. They're from Regina.

Alberta, Saskatchewan, it's all the same East of BC until you hit Ontario

The singer (Stu) is from Vancouver, he's a friend. His old band did a reunion show a few months ago, it was awesome.

He was there for a couple weeks wasn't he?

Dave Hewson sells signed stuff on ebay. I have a signed copy of the Bloody Karnage Demo, Surrender or Die and Fuck of Death signed by Dave and Terry Sadler and then got a Fuck of Death shirt too that's pretty cool. I love Slaughter

Woods of Ypres is the best metal band to come out of Ontario as far as I am concerned. They're black metal though, but Opeth are a big influence on them.
