Can someone explain to me how this course works? You can access the course on the rockway website, but somehow you have to register? Do you have to pay? What do you get for it? Is it only available in Finnish?

Ive registred myself, and i can now almost see any Song (some will be released 30th november) for 1 week. Tabs and explains inclusive

Sounds a bit more AI then on Audacity and you can only use first 15 seconds for free

Man the tech these days is crazy. I would imagine in 5 years max we'll have a one-button solution to turn a song into a perfect tab, except maybe some outrageously weird licks.

This is not going to happen, or will always be worse than if a human were to tab. Simply because an AI has no way of knowing which fingerings or scales are useful and which are not.
I also don't know how an AI is supposed to determine the tuning.
From experience, making a (good) tab is quite time-consuming and demanding.

But this song splitting thing is getting better and better. For some time now, there have been programs that can filter out the individual instruments quite well. But just like with tabs, it's already pretty much the maximum of what's possible.

Simply because an AI has no way of knowing which fingerings or scales are useful and which are not.

nah AI already writes poetry indistinguishable from actual poets and is able to explain clever irony, I'd argue it might even come up with better fingerings than conventionally used lol

You can "try it free for one week" which gives you access to everything on the site (15 000 teaching videos) for one week. After that you will have to pay a monthly subscription fee (15€/month) to keep access to the videos, though there are some free lessons there IIRC as well.

Seems that "what you get for it" is videos of Samy teaching you to play Hate Me, Needled 24/7, Angels Don't Kill, Silent Night, Bodom Night, Are You Dead Yet?, and the intro to Lake Bodom. The contents also mention Sweep picking, pinch harmonics. alternate picking, string skipping and using a Floyd Rose.

The trailer for the course is in Finnish, and all the teaching videos are titled in Finnish, so yes, it probably is in Finnish.

The contents list backing tracks for all the songs that are taught on the course. They're not free though, you have to buy the course to get access. I'm not sure whether you can download them either, though this does seem promising:


"Lataa tiedosto" means "download file". There's a download file button for all the videos. Under the backingtracks (Taustanauha) there's a text saying I don't have access to the materials of the course. I'm assuming if I bought the course then I'd get a download file button under those as well.
