Controversial opinions on metal

Fistful of Metal is a classic album. As I remember right, it doesn't even have fillers. My personal favourite is Panic with a crazy ass solo. Deathrider and Metal Thrashing Mad are classics, the only weaker track I can think of may be Anthrax or Subjugator but I think I have to revisit the album to reckon correctly.

It might not have fillers in comparison to itself but Fistful of Fillers would be an apt title based on its overall quality.

When was the last time you listened to Worship Music? It took me a while to get into it and I think it is an album that has gotten better with age. Easily the best album from the big four in the last 20 years. It has some great songs, I'm Alive, In the End, The Giant, The Devil You Know, Judas Priest, and my personal favorite, Fight 'Em 'Till You Can't.

Well I tried to relisten to some of those songs again, mostly chugfest with occasional tempo chages that seem incredibly forced and with really stupid/simple drumming and riffage. It's exactly as bad as I remember.

And I quite like Fistful of Metal for what it is - crazy, stupid and funny speed metal. Nothing really spectaculary creative, but when you're in mood for that type of music it's good.

People that want to change old covers on reissues are fucked.
Indeed I hate new covers on reissuses. Especially since they usually are lazy as fuck done with just the (often new) logo in the middle and some durdly stuff in the backround. Perfect example: Sentenced - Shadows of the Past. The original cover is awsome, wtf happened?

I've noticed this too. It almost never turns out better when a cover is 'updated'. The re-release of Panzer Division Marduk is a case in point as the original had the panzer barrel pointing straight at you whereas the new version had it somewhat to the side - weak.

This is a perfect example of how reissue covers suck:

I would never buy that reissue with a stupid ass cover.

Ha, buy the cd for sure. I was literally blasting Scorpions yesterday in my car. Fits great for flying down the road.

Well, given the original covers for some of the Scorpions' albums adjacent to Taken by Force, I'd say that some of the new covers weren't just an improvement, but damn necessary (lest one be in possession of pseudo child porn). However, points made have made me reconsider my statement, and I retract it. Keep the old covers.

That shouldn't be controversial, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was on this site.

Also, on the subject of reissues with new album art, I agree that they are almost always bad. I also really hate when the old album art is used with a newer version of their logo that clashes with the album art style.
