No, there are many who are otherwise s0000per br000thul who find themselves attracted to the - ironically - junk power metal of DragonForce. Ironic because although they trash an entire genre of music for being crappy in different alleged ways, it is precisely the high crap factor that draws them in to where they now enjoy this one power metal band, when in reality, it's high quality in other bands being mistranslated by the untrained ear. Expect a follow up of 'it's a fun band and you shouldn't expect anything more.' as if that changes any of the above.

I like Blind Guardian and Manowar too so your argument holds no weight.

Metallica's "experimenting" made them one of the most popular bands in the world... and hardly made them "lose" fans... their old stuff didnt disappear from the world when they changed, you know.

I seriously doubt they give a fuck about the "respect and dignity" Kreator has.

Very well then. I just know I've seen stuff you've said before about that set of styles and then pointing towards your own favorite, so it pretty much looked like one of those "I don't like any death metal except Nile, that's the only good death metal band." type of situations, only with power metal.

It usually doesn't matter how many people are discussing the band with a truckload of hype behind it, the very uniform over-enthusiasm is about the same, the deep interest is way deeper than with other bands who have mostly the same applicable traits but without a big machine behind them making someone 'proud to be a part' of it by joining in. I wasn't referencing the number of fans. For example band A and B can both write excellent lyrics but if band A has the right marketing, suddenly people will come wide-eyed and gush about how great they are every time the subject comes up in a repeat of hyperbole......whereas band B, quietly being excellent, will sort of be ignored. You never see an original differing thought on 'accepted' bands, it's all a carbon copy of the last raving review with all the sweet spots highlighted the same exact way.


And I mean when metalheads *do* cry for something original, because you read all the time how people complain stuff is generic when they want to put it down or how they like to stay with two bands per genre as if other songwriting within it just doesn't exist, and so on. I could care less about originality and you probably could too, but a lot of people apparently do...somehow.

That music doesn't need to be serious. Sometimes the object of the game is just to have fun at as many people's expense as possible. Though I'd not really say Torsofuck is Grindcore par say.

My opinions:

Metallica is completely overrated. Yes, even their 'good' early albums. Very boring to me.

Slam is fantastic, but a band is made or broken by the power of the vocalist/s.

Any 'aggressive' modern music that isn't brutal is pointless. Why have the imagery and the tough guy attitudes and then not deliver the goods?

Most Grindcore is appaling. Based mostly on their vocalists' lack of talent.

Personal taste. But it just sounds very weak to me, and lacks the true raw brutality that Grindcore should embody. Listening to Grindcore should be like being beaten in the face with a hammer.

I remember someone trying to convince me it was more brutal then Death Metal, and sending me loads of bands that I can't remember now. He failed to impress me.

Napalm Death isn't bad though.

Dane is an incredible singer, he puts so much emotion into his vocals. Anyone who thinks he isnt a good singer is a [insert insult]

Yea he is... But I always thought Nevermore to be kind of iffy. I mean sure they are a unique band. I find some of their really new shit to be meh as their older stuff such as Dreaming Neon Black quite good.

I think those are really good songs. and about the pornogrind do you guys listen to like "cock and ball torture" or something? that band and anything like it is just plain ridiculous. I listen to harder music for musical factors rather than shock factors so I don't like them (other than how funny their name is) just as I don't like Cannibal Corpse or other oldschool death metal acts lacking innovation or technicality

Just going to surf through some compliation videos to look for stuff. Also, is Cephalic Carnage Grind? Always considered them to be a bit of everything all mashed together.
