I've heard quite a few people, especially on Metal Archives, basically laud them as the best metal band ever.

Manilla Road deserves EVERY bit of praise they get. Not a bad album to their name, and Crystal Logic might just be my favorite heavy metal album. I'm not sure if I prefer it to Mercyful Fates' Melissa though.

Probably the reason they get so much praise is because of how relatively unnoticed they are in the metal world. Sure, they're pretty unique, and they deserve a lot more success than they've had, but there are plenty of bands with better overall songwriting.

Black Sabbath is annoying as hell with Ozzy.

I only like Ozzy era Sabbath, and pre Technical Ecstasy at that (I think TE sucks hard). I don't like Dio's vocals, and I've never heard Tony Martin.

Eddie Van Halen is a god. Their songwriting is head and shoulders above the bands of their time. But David Lee Roth is a douche, and so is Sammy Hagar.

Motley Crue suck in general, although I respect Mick Mars for continuing to play after having his entire spine fused.

I think Avenged Sevenfold (Referring to their latest two albums) would make a pretty sweet power metal band if they kicked out their current faggot singer and got a guy with a respectable set of pipe behind the mic.
