Say what you will about Arch Enemy, but i don't know how you could consider his guitar work worthless. Both the Amott brothers shred imo..
I think this is often but not necessarily true. The vocals have to fit with the music for them to be truly great, but I think there are times when the vocalist is very good regardless of the other instruments. No examples spring to mind right now but I'm sure it's happened.there is no such thing as 'great vocals' except in relation to the music accompanying them, as far as i'm concerned.

This pretty much sums it up perfectly.Of course Quorthon had a fairly bad voice by traditional standards, but the point wasn't be an amazing singer. I still love his vocals because of the emotion and effort he puts into them. Its better, because it gives off the feeling of a common man singing from his heart rather than a classically trained singer hitting all the perfect notes.
Any statement like this is pretty much guaranteed to be retarded. The fact that you don't distinguish between USPM and Euro power gives me reason to suspect you don't know what you're talking about and simply don't like Dragonforce and Rhapsody.Power Metal (collectively) is complete shit.
You most likely don't know shit about 80s US Power Metal bands like Omen, Griffin, Helstar, Liege Lord, Attacker, Jag Panzer, etc. But if you do and still don't like those bands, then you're gay.
Vital Remains rule, but I've never felt they were considered underrated..at least not when compared to the majority of other underground metal bands..they are all technically "underrated" if you ask the hordes of sheep
I disagree, there are a lot of skills and techniques involved with singing..I mean a singer that has a broader vocal range would be considered a more able singer than one that has a smaller one..that said, a vocalist needs to fit the accompanying music like you said in order for it to sound good..but it doesn't take away a vocalist skill just because they happened to throw in an opera singer in a pornogrind band
The thing about vital remains is and I may be a bit off because I haven't bothered listening to them for ages, is that well they seem like a lesser Deicide. But I heard their first album is phenominal but I haven't checked it out.
