i think burzum, immortal, darkthrone and mayhem were ridiculously inspired and an argument could be made that each of them were musical geniuses at their respective peaks.

I think gundamterran and I have a very similar approach to music. I also can't get into classic SweDM as much as I try. Something about the guitar tone and the riffing style renders it totally bland for me. I tried to make it through an Unleashed album once but I couldn't do it. I didn't hate it, it was just aggressively boring.

I also agree with no country regarding Emperor fans and their penis breath status.

Soulside Journey is the best Darkthrone album. The black metal Darkthrone is just boring and terribly constructed. Circle the Wagons is fun though.

Soulside Journey is Darkthrone's best album, but that's just how good it is... there's nothing wrong with their black metal stuff and some of it's damn good.
