Ummm i know, did you miss the point of my inital post on this subject? That's why i specifically said he's one of the better thrash vocalists, but that i'd still take Mustaine and old Hetfield over him.
Toxik's vocals are the worst part about their music, and from what i remember i liked the vocalist on World Circus more. I'm not a fan of high pitched vox in thrash, but Mark Antoni and AK are great, and i really like Russ Andersons singing but none of them are anywhere near as versatile as Chuck Billy, not even close. Nne of them have a wider range than he does. Vocal range isnt just about how high someone can get, it spans from the lowest to the highest note.

Yeah, but my point is that Chuck Billy isn't really singing all of that. I mean, is it even a fair comparison to add range in his singing voice to range is his death vocals voice? Like, for all we know Chuck Barnes or any number of death metal vocalists can sing in a higher clean voice, but very few of them actually do so. Chuck Billy has an average thrash singing range, an average death growl range, and can do the occasional high-pitched scream. That doesn't mean he can do every note in that entire range, or even anywhere near.
EDIT: And the reason I picked high-pitched guys is because you don't find much lower-pitched singing in metal in general, with the exception of a bunch of goth metal guys and the occasional Dan Swano or Matt Barlow.

nah. i rambled here about how highly i rate early slayer (specifically HELL AWAITS in this case), and i don't think it's an especially controversial standpoint - despite their mainstream success there aren't many bands more widely revered in the underground. there are very few bands who've composed so many passages that stink of once-in-a-generation genius. metal has never been so fundamentally violent, intense, vividly blooksoaked as their second and third albums; i think they come closer to defining the essence of extreme metal than anyone since. and speed metal arguably never achieved a higher ratio of great riffs than that of SHOW NO MERCY.

Blasted WOOOS yesterday for the first time in like 3 years. God damn if this isn't the best Amon Amarth album by far. The guitar riffs are amazing and the production is massive.
I really think the only bad album from Amon Amarth is Surtur Rising. I tend to enjoy everything else. WOOOS is in my top 3 records from the group.

I dig that one, personally. Also think 'Fate of Norns' and 'With Oden on Our Side' are their worst albums... still like them, though.

I think they need to come up with some fresh ideas. Early AA is outstanding; newer stuff not so much.

Ironically, the title track of 'Twilight of the Thunder God' could be one of their best songs though. Fucking epic beyond belief! (and a killer Sabaton cover exists as well).
I really don't think the band will be the same since the drummer left.
Was he involved in the song writing process? I have no idea. I'd be willing to bet the next album will sound like the previous three.
