Damnation vs. Deadwing

i lost interest in some tracks on Deadwing. that's where my vote comes from, the fact that my mind just wandered away during parts of it and lost attention. albums such as damnation and dredg's next hold onto my attention a lot tighter.

Deadwing is much, much better. I'd say any PT release is better than Damnation. Damnation just doesn't have a lot of depth.

if this were In Absentia or any previous PT release vs Damnation i'd agree. but Deadwing is to me. it's just.... "ok".

Deadwing. No brainer. Why compare these 2 albums? They aren't really alike at all. Damnation is an album that is very mellow and will put you to sleep, like 8 tablets of musical sleeping pills. Whereas Deadwing is more of a complete album, got mellow and hard stuff on it. I really don;t see the relation, but yeah, Deadwing is much more entertaining.

your hostility helps your argument very little.

and yes, it is objective. ill give you an example. POP Music. pop music is for the masses...and the masses (statistically speaking) are not very cultured, intelligent, or in your words "gets it".

There is a small percentage of people who can comprehend and appreciate certain things on a level many cannot. Anyone who disagrees with me...obviously hasnt given this much thought.

Im not saying im above you...but i am saying you might need to listen to Deadwing a little better. Damnation is quite linear and lacking of quite a bit of depth for what it could have been, and in many ways isnt what Deadwing acomplished relatively easily.

plenty of people disagree with me, and im fine with it. belitting what i have to say in some sort of sarcastic attempt at wit really doesnt achieve much. i get along with a lot of people on this forum: (crimson, dreadful, alternative 3, kotno, eemu, etc) because they speak their minds but arent exactly retarded about it. Some other individuals have a knack for saying blatantly irritating things...i cannot help that. And as much as they cant help saying them...i cant help retorting.

You obviously do know alot about prog music, and its good to have your input, but don't assume you are always correct, especially when this is opinion-based.

i know less about prog than several other genres. so lets tango if youd like. a lot of people on here think im just some belligerant prog nazi/mikael wannabe. the fact is im just an audiophile in general...prog just happens to be one of my fav genres to listen to.

and yes, youre right....i dont really care...but watching you guys get all fired up over me calling your opinion wrong is cheaper than a movie and certainly more interactive.

@NFU: I have never flamed you for your opinion. All I'm wondering is how you can tell someone that their opinion is just plain wrong.

Which do I like better...a chocolate sundae with jimmies, chocolate syrup, and a cherry on top or just plain vanilla ice cream? I would take vanilla everytime. Sure the sundae has more to it and may be sweeter etc. etc. but I enjoy the pure simplicity of just plain vanilla much better. How is that different than Deadwing and Damnation? Listening to Damnation gives me more pleasure than listening to Deadwing just like eating the vanilla ice cream gives me more pleasure than the sundae. The OP asks which you like better. That is an opinion. Nobody is right or wrong here. People have different opinions than you sometimes you know?
