Dan, do you question existence?

Religions sux balls...comform to their rules, my ass! America was founded by immigrants, not the caucasians...read the books!

Im just trying to help here so dont take offense guys.. I will offer my expertise on his question:

I will say this, 1. what book is as complete as the Holy Bible? Ask yourself that. It goes from creation all the way up to Christ and after that is the new covenant for men(what we live by) 2. It was gathered from many places around the world and some how all fits in and makes sense. 3. You cannot make anyone believe, its all in their heart. 4. What I spoke was not to disrespect, but what I spoke of the Islamic book was all true in my post.

Try "Hitchiker Guide..." Douglas Adams (RIP)

Just thought I'd throw this out there.

I really don't care about this, and think this whole discussion is retarded. People can find the religion for them on their own. That's how I did it. I've had Catholism forced on me since I was little, and it never really felt right. So I dropped that and now I found one that I agree with fully. Being a heathen is great. : D

The movie sux btw.
Yeah. I think he wrote a series of books that can't really be converted into a movie without losing most of the good stuff. His filosofies about life, universe and everything, just don't come across very well on the movie screen/tv.

For myself, I don't care, since I have the books, but I feel sorry for the people who never read books, but watch the movie and then think Hitchhikers Guide sucks because the movie did.

Ah, but do you truly believe in this, or do you simply agree with what it says?

edit: gar, dude... i dunno about your 'expertise'.
since you say you can't make people believe (which i agree with), then what is the point of this thread, since you've only pissed people off? you say your thoughts on islam are true, but truth is a sketchy term. how can you prove truth beyond your own perspective...?

about The Hitchikers guide... Towlie says:You wanna get high?(just had to shove southpark in there...Towlie rules)

about Jesus didn't exist dot com...It's quite inacurate,I shoud know, I study this shit on an academic level.

about the whole jesus said this jesus said that...let's get something clear.
in the old testament it says:"Shall not have other gods over me".
now according to whatever,Mary was a virgin and miraculasly was empgnated,
Now Mary was married to Joseph.According to Jewish Religious Law when they married they were obligated to "get jiggy wit it".They were probably unable to have a baby becuase one of the sides in that marriage was sterile...
and then Mary was empragnated...I can give you several examples when things like that happened:Isaac(genesis),Sarah was sterile and was emprgnated at the age of 75(while Abraham was 90),Samuel the prophet was born to Hannah who was sterile too.
Jesus was also a prophet and a miracle maker and so were other people in the old testament like moses.
If you look at the old testament you'll see it says the sentence for a man who's a false prophet(not sent by god) is death by stoning and that's what most people believed he was at that time.a false prophet.
Jesus never said he was god,nor ever claimed he was a massiah.
after a series of events(like the alleged ressurrection of jesus) some apostles started making some changes in the jewish law and that's how christianity was born.now jesus could be the son of god, that is accepted, as I said there were several cases like his but none of them was called a god after he died. Making a god out of man is a clear violation of "shall not have other gods over me" that makes about all people who believe "jesus is lord" a sinner.

how's that for christ bashing?

the one flaw in that argument is that christians believe Jesus, God, and the Spirit to be 3 aspects of the same being, so one is not worshipped over the other, as they are all the same 'person'.

That's a good way to get around that rule with only being allowed to have one god. ;) ;) ;)

It's in the same book ;)

I understand why people would see it as contradictory. I also understand stuff such as turning water into wine (& other 'miracles') being questioned heavily- but must supernatural beings be subject to natural law? depending on point of view, it either didn't happen at all, or if it did, it was indeed miraculous. up to interpretation.

You have a point but the old testament also said "shall not make you a statue or picture" and churches are filled with those.
We all know the Golden Calf and how israel was punished for it.
god killed everyone who worshiped the golden calf.
After the death of King Solomon his son Rehavam(sorry if I write these names wrong,I write them as they are pronounced in hebrew) was set to rule the people of Israel but there was a rebel (Yerovam) who got Israel separated into 2 kingdoms. The first one is Juedea led by Rehavam which consisted of the Juedea,Levy and a part of Benjamin tribes and the kingdom of Israel that consisted of the remaining 10 tribes.
Yerovam had a problem as the king of Israel, because the temple and the priests(from the Levy tribe) were on Jeudean territory.
So he build a golden calf, not as another god but to represent the same god as the new praying and sacrificing center for the 10 tribes.
Yerovam and Israel were heavily punished for that. Even though the meaning of Yerovam was good, according to the bible God is not very fond of people capturing god's esence in a statue or a picture, because soon enough people will be praying to the statue instead of God which is represnted in the statue.

Just so you know, some religious jewish people, most of them Hassidik fly each year to Ouman(Ukraine) where a lot of holy rabis are burried to pray near holy presence. Some of those people pray to the rabis(without even noticing) at the cemetery instead of praying to God. It's practically the same thing.

look man, we all hate religious fanatics because they do all sorts of fucked up shit in the name of the lord but it's hypocracy to say religion sux without basing it on facts.

luckily for me, I'm not religious so I can look at those things objectively.

paradoxile dude, i totally agree. trying to put a "face" to God is like giving the divine a mortal connotation, it makes people think "if God looks like that guy", then they think others who have that appearance might be more blessed, or those people might think they're better than other people... see the problem?

as for the iconography and such of churches, I never said i was a big churchgoer! :tickled: Jesus said: "wherever two or more gather in my name, there I shall be." He didn't specify a specific building of any kind, nor a specific place, nor time of day- just that coming together was the key, and I think that speaks volumes that many people these days have misunderstood. is a church God's house because there's "pictures" of Him and icons we associate with Him? or, as I think, is it a house of God because the people who go there seek him? That's the big thing: everywhere is holy land, everywhere is God's house, in my opinion.
