Dance Of Death -vs- Brave New World

I tried listening to DOD the other day. I didn't do too well - the only songs I listened to in their entirety were Wildest Dreams and Mr Rainmaker - had to skip through the rest after sampling the first five seconds or so.

I hope this is Maiden getting their dodgy song-writing skills out of their systems once and for all and writing a mega-awesome album next time around, I really do.

I takes more than listening to the first 5 seconds of every song to realise the greatness that is DoD. Honestly, I can't believe people think it is so bad, especially compared to BNW. I really like both albums, but DoD sounds so much more mature, and less generic.

More mature and less generic doesn't make it better.

That is true, but it does help the songs become better, which they are (in general of course).

I think Spiff would really like Gates Of Tomorrow, if he gave it a good listen.

Alot of people would like more from the album if they gave it more of a chance. Of course it isn't going to sink in and be brilliant from the first listen people!

But most people are too stupid to realize the greaness of DoD

Gates of Tomorrow is one of the songs on DoD that I listen to sometimes. Usually I find myself skipping No More Lies, Montsegur and Dance of Death, then skipping the songs between that song Nicko wrote and Journeyman. See, I don't even know the names of half the songs, which goes to show how dodgy an album it is and therefore how little respect it earns from me.

I often skip Montsegur, Dance of Death and Paschendale.

Face In The Sand is excellent, give that a few more listens Spiffo. It deserves respect!

Face In The Sand bored me the last time I listened to it, so I skip it now.
I used to think it was great.

The Nomad rules. Much more than almost anything from DoD.

Face In The Sand is not the most exciting track, but I love the haunting feel of it. The intro build up with the drums coming in is awesome.

Nomad does rule. I am not debating the quality of anything off of BNW, I love it as well, just albums overall, and DoD sits better with me.
