Best gig of my fucking life! This one topped last December's show no trouble. I did indeed get the set list (and Henriksson's pick! - although that went walkabout almost immediately *sad face*), and it went as follows:
Hours Passed in Exile
Lost to Apathy
Zodiackyl Light (sic)
(Out of Nothing) - crossed off
(Indifferent Suns) - crossed off
Monochromatic Stains
The New Build
The Wonders at Your Feet
Damage Done
ThereIn
Senses Tied
(To a Bitter Halt) - crossed off
Punish My Heaven
My Negation
Final Resistance
(Ex Nihilo) - a short section played as they left
I loved every minute of it. I got the front, and during HPIE, Mikael saw my (HPIE) shirt, smiled, pointed at me, and started singing at me. He did that quite a lot throughout the rest of the set. It was the best feeling when I knew all the words and could sing along with him, and I think (although this is probably the fanboy in me speaking) that he appreciated it too, given how the crowd seemed so apathetic to them (there were indeed shouts for Chimaira on a worryingly regular basis, and the girl next to me kept shouting for them at the top of her voice - I might add I met her randomly before the gig - she came over, asked if I was looking forward to Chimaira, and I said I was looking forward to Dark Tranquillity and might leave after them. She gave me a dirty look, turned around, and walked off. Silly girl).
The coolest example of this was when ThereIn was starting, and Mikael came over and asked me "you know his one, right?". Naturally I gave a *very* positive response.
My Negation was my least favorite song of the set. I like it on CD, but it slowed everything down a little too much imo (although I was glad to have seen it live). However, it did perfectly set up the (now standard?) ending of Final Resistance, which fucking ripped!
Afterwards, Henriksson gave me his pick (which, as I said, went missing afterwards, much to my dismay), Mikael came over to me and shook my hand for a while, and Brandstrom came and did the same (although in this case, he came from the back just to shake my hand and then go again *very happy face*).
I was given the setlist by a security guy (having asked him at the start if he could get it for me. That guy ruled for two reasons:
1) He got me the set list
2) Straight after, he said to the girl next to me "y'see, *he* liked them, why couldn't you?!"
I hung around both inside and outside for a while, hoping to meet the band, but to no avail. The merch girl said that they rarely came out after their set, and that they didn't even go to the after-show party the night before. There were no signs of life around their bus either.
Speaking of merch, they were selling the skull hoodie, Lost to Apathy shirt, a tour shirt with the site's splash page on the front, and "a show of character" tourdates on the back (also in a longsleeve version with the minds I logo on the right hand sleeve), a girly logo shirt (I think with just the band name on the front, but I may be wrong), and a Character shirt, with a coat of arms on it, with "dt" and "character" written in it. Quite an unusual one for them (it was available in maroon with yellow printing, or black with (I assume) white printing).
Guh, I'm sorry if I sound like a right fanboy after all that, but it was just an incredible night for me. Really awesome.
It was nice to randomly bump into King Chaos beforehand, too. His Haven shirt tipped me off that he might be a board member.
