Darkthrone -translivanian hunger? SUCKS?

i was on www.allmusic.com and it says that that cd is horrible and it rips on it the whole time.... why? i think its a pretty good album... your coments? and also what you think about dimmu borgir (like em or not) being on ozzfest... one of the first black metal bands on it?.... thanks for you comments

I used to think Translyvanian Hunger was weak because of the horrible production and complete simplicity. Now I think it is a good CD, and I really like almost all of the songs.

I can't stand Darkthrone, so most of their CDs suck for me... But the Soulside Journey was the best from them

I take it you don't like black metal. Soulside Journey was a death metal CD, and thereafter they switched over to black metal.

Not a big fan of Darkthrone myself. I just don't think they offer a whole lot that's worth hearing. About Dimmu being on Ozzfest: I don't think black metal has any place at such an event but I don't even like Dimmu Borgir and I don't really consider them black metal.

Dimmu Borgir all the way. Call them sell-outs or mainstream-whores, I still think they kick serious amounts of backside.

About Darkthrone's "Transilvanian Hunger" - it's a groundbreaking display of brilliant, minimalistic songwriting. Great record. "Ablaze In The Northern Sky" is my current DT favourite, though, but "Transilvanian Hunger" isn't far behind.

This is a slightly bizarre statement. How can someone be misguided AND hit the nail on the head?

Kind of like saying "I might not have any idea what the hell I am talking about, but I am still right."

But, funny semantics aside, Transylvanian Hunger is a masterpiece of black metal. Not sure if it would crack the top 5 list, but would be very close.

I love black metal. I do not like Darkthrone though. They were better when they did death metal in my mind, and had promise when doing so. When they changed to black metal, they became silly in my mind. Some of their songs are decent. But overall as a band I am not a fan of them.

I love every single kind of black metal excpet "true black metal." I love everything from Abigor, Behemoth, and Immortal to Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth. I love bands like Vesperian Sorrow, Emperor, Enslaved, Anorexia Nervosa (though slighlty bored in recent years) Ephel Duath, Old Man's Child and even Mayhem. Yet I am not a fan of Burzum, or Darkthrone. they simply do nothign for me
