What do you guys think about Death+Black metal bands. I have heard alot about early Opeth stuff having a black metal sound. I have been listening to Dissection who are a Death/Black metal band, good stuff. What other bands fit in this genre and what would you recommend?

Behemoth is a great death/black metal band... their earlier albums were completely black metal, but they switched to a mixture of the two genres with Thelema 6. My favorite albums by them are Satana and Demigod, as Zos Kia Kultus is a complete Morbid Angel rip-off.

Just look in the back of the booklet for your explanation. That's all there is, was and ever will be to it.

well, actually...morningrise, mayh, and blackwater park, and still life are black metal since they have evil forest scenes as the cover. you have to realize here...evil forest=black metal.

Death metal:
Nile (my favourite death metal band)
Atrocity (earlier stuff and Atlantis)
Behemoth (later stuff)
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter
Hypocrisy
Cannibal Corpse
Finntroll (mixed with some awesome folk music)
Cryptopsy
Vader
Bloodbath
Edge of Sanity
Decapitated
Bolt Thrower

Black metal:
Dornenreich
Burzum
Emperor (great stuff, the album "In the Nightside Eclipse" is brilliant)
Darkthrone
The Kovenant (though more towards "cyber-metal")
1349
Eisregen (black, with a folk mixture)
Immortal
Ulver
Mayhem

I'll think of some more later...
