Profanity read one definition of death metal that said the sound was "nihilistic", meaning it was chaotic and didn't really follow any rules set by traditional melody and whatnot...but he ended up taking this completely out of context, thinking the lyrics were about "nihilism" and now spits that out every time he gets a chance.

Death Metal is the most intelligent music ever, it's music is designed to reflect Nihilism and the vocalists use their throats to represent torture, pain and suffering. Before you criticize it, trey reading some proper lyrics and you will find that they're much more intelligent and well thought out than most Metal bands.

Dude.. thats pure bullshit, in most of the cases. I've read a lot of Death metal lyrics... they talk pure bullshit... I fucked a corpse, i fucked a dog, i fucked the dog that fucked the corpse and then i had an orgasm watching a girl been raped by another fucked up monster.... then i ate my Oreos, covered in cum and blood of course.
Of course, there are some other bands with a "real" lyrics... and some good meaning.

That's why some people call it porno metal.

I really enjoy death metal, i think its funny sometimes... But the main razon i listen to it, its becose of the aggression of the music.... in all the aspects: Drums, Vocals, Bass and guitarr. I'm talking about BRUTAL death metal... melodic death metal its a whole difrent story.

True, true... Every damn time Im looking in a thread, Profånity is talking crap about nihilistic, German deathmetal bands... It´s kind of irritating when it has been done before ten times - by the very same person!!!

Some deathmetalbands may represent the aspects of nihility, but please, shut your fucking ass in threads like this. The majority of deathmetal is not like that, and if you asked a band, they would laugh at you for sure!!! - Just as we do!!!

- Anyways, I think a good thing in deathmetal is, that not everyone can get into it. Either the vocals are too brutal or maybe the melody is skipped in advance for the brutality. I love both brutal deah and melodic death, but I prefer technic and brutal if I had to chose. Maybe even a good combination was a good thing for you to check out first.

I never said that Nihilism wasn't important in Death metal. Soulfly are not death metal. Busted has guitars, a bass, drums and a vocalist. Does this mean they're rock or metal?

I love Death Metal for it's intense riffing, psychotic drumming and growling vocals. I admit the vocals take time to get used to, so does the blast beating. But once you get past those, you'll begin to learn that it does require some technique, infact alot of technique(especially blast beating at 300 bpm!!!!) Not many people can like Death Metal though, like my other guitarist. The closest thing to Death Metal he listens to is Opeth, Death, Inflames, Soilwork etc. The more melodic side.
