Death Metal

Hahahah, oh yes because we all know that Morbid Angel had grind elements in their music

Because, as we all know, blast beats originated in death metal. Oh wait...

and and that their sound was based around uplifting melodies.

Yeah, because obviously I'm talking about the goofy melodic passages, not, say, the generic Morbid Angel derived death metal elements when I talk about the Morbid Angel influence on Lykathea Aflame.

LA is in no way gimmicky - whereas Nile is a living breathing gimmick.

I mean, how could anyone possibly consider spastically alternating between "uplifting" melodies and dime-a-dozen death metal riffs on every single song a gimmick?

Never said they did, don't put words in my mouth asshole.

Lykathea Aflame's entire style is quite different from that of Morbid Angel's. The riffing styles are different, the thrash influence isn't prevalent in LA at all while it is still quite obviously part of MA still. Oh yes, such MA ripoffs.

It isn't really spastically alternated, but regardless how does a band having a recurrant motif constitute them as having a gimmick.

Cock and Ball Torture was awesome...

Anal Blast and Oxidized Razor are tits. I think The Rev from Fecal Matter Discorp sold that Oxidized Razor CD

Dave, you can't just call various things "interesting," "original," "emotional," "tremendously talented," and "highly effective" and submit that as a proper dissertation of the quality of a band's compositional prowess.

Yeah, but it's not like anyone else has ever managed to dissertate anything more complex on UM.

I like Last One On Earth a little bit better than The Rack. It's slower, but heavier and more face crushing. I dunno, but even thought it's not brutal whatsoever, that album is as heavy as fuck to me.

I prefere 'the rack'. Have you heard Embrace The Death ?. Asphyx recorded the album with the old vocalist before The Rack and it was intended on being their debut album but the label did not want to release it because they did not feel the production was good enough. Great album. A lot of the music did make it on the rack but some solos, riffs, and harmonies are not and it's still different. Embrace The Death was not released until like 96,98 so I would not doubt if a lot of people think it's one of their newer releases when it's actually their first.
