haha where have you been? There was a huge Dethklok tour with Chimaira (gay...) and Soilent Green (awesome!) as support last Summer.
But yeah, it's basically Brendan Small on guitar/vox, two other really good musicians that I'm spacing on that I believe have played with Paul Gilbert or Steve Vai or one of those guys on guitar and bass respectively, and Gene Hoglan on drums
. They're kept in the dark and there's a big screen with the cartoon band "playing" and dialog from the cartoons as well, I guess voiced by Small. Its basically like a live hour long episode of Dethklok with full songs haha. Was cool, and at my show they did a suprise encore without the screen/cartoons and just the band and did "Dethkomedy" as a tribute to George Carlin!No offense, but that sounds lame. Of course, I approve of Metalocalypse as something that may bring more people into metal, and better yet into playing metal drums and moving to Brookline MA, but it fucking irritates me (having never seen it) because it increases the number of people who try and talk to me about death metal thinking that Dethklok are representative of the genre...
Maybe you should watch it instead of getting irritated. Seeing Soilet Green is worth a 20 dollar ticket and Dethklok is funny. This isn't directed at weareinflames, but some people take their elitism and whatever so far that they can't laugh at themselves (before I get flamed, I think in these forums we spend more time laughing at ourselves than talking about metal, that was a generalization).
Hard to deny when they literally have sold more album copies than any other "Death Metal" band and have hit the highest respected charts, blowing all other DM bands out of the water. Even if it's only because of the comedy aspect, then maybe that's something the genre desperately needed.

Most of their tour did sell out.
It does erk some that people now think all of DM is like this. But if it takes a cartoon to put DM in the spotlight, so be it. It's better than one more shitty Hip-hop "artist." Besides I would much rather it be Dethklok the Avenege Sevenfaggots.

I can't help my decent taste in music.
If you had said, Soul, Jazz, classical or opera, I would have to agree you have descent taste in music. But Hip-Hop (or rap) is in no way shape or form, music. It's people speaking, fast. And their "instrument" is a soundboard.....
At least soul, jazz has actual people playing REAL instruments. Not a piece of electronics producing sounds...You can pretty much liken it to putting together notes on your cell phone and calling yourself an "artist". Yes it's that ridiculous. I'm sorry if anyone disagrees with me but seriously. Anything that doesn't involve at least one REAL instrument doesn't deserve the right to be called "music" Even Kid Rock (he plays guitar) has real instruments in his songs...he at least fucking tries. I can tolerate some of his songs...
Alicia Keys, plays the piano at least and has a beautiful voice. I will give credit when it's due. But most of that shit is just that, SHIT.
Most of friends give me shit about listening to music that has "cookie monster" sounding singers. My rebuttal is always, "At least my bands play real instruments." They can never reply to that, ever. :Smug:
