Do you listen to metal and only metal?

For some time now metal and its sub genres seem to be all i listen to. I closed myself off from all other forms of music after going through certain genre phases and realising that no other genre appealed and stuck with me quite like metal.

Sure, you may think this is rather closed minded but I'm quite content with what i listen to and never feel as if I'm missing out on anything special other than what I'm yet to discover in the realms of metal.

So. My question is, how much of what you listen to is made up of metal?

I listen to metal. Early rock like Led Zeppelin and Blue Cheer. I also listen to punk... the Exploited, Dead Kennedys, Cryptic Slaughter and Discharge.

I have nothing against other certain genres. I can listen to other stuff. It doesn't bother me much.

I listen to alot of metal... probably more than half of what I listen to on a regular basis is metal... perhaps more. Sometimes I go into a phase where I listen to only Mozart or Dead Can Dance or whatever for a while so metal doesn't get played for a little bit. But yeah right now I've got Candlemass on the ipod and Beethoven string quartets in the car.
I can definetly say that you are missing out on LOTS of great shit if you are only listening to metal... in fact you are missing out on the BEST music there is, classical.

I don't think there is anything wrong with only listening to metal, I say listen to whatever you appeals to you (It seems like many people like to brag about listening to many genres as it makes them a better person for being 'open-minded'). It's not necessarily narrowminded to only listen to metal, it depends on how the person approaches this. A person should only listen to what they like, and not what they 'should' like. I could care less about the talented rap groups out there, Rap isn't my thing and never will be so why should I try to listen to it? (for example)

I don't necessarily listen to a lot of other genres, or any real specific ones outside of metal. Moreso, I listen to bands that appeal to me rather than whole non-metal genres. Bands like London After Midnight, Marilyn Manson, Cinema Strange, God Module, Kammarheit, Murderdolls/Frankenstein Drag Queens, IAMX, Genitorturers and a ton more bands. I guess stuff I'd call 'hard rock', also industrial/electronic, ambient, or stuff that has a glam, goth influence or music that is dark etc. I just listen to whatever bands I like.

My three favourite styles:
1. Gothic/dark music. Theatres des Vampires (1994-2004)...but not those female-fronted pop-metal bands
2. Music like London After Midnight, Genitorturers, early Marilyn Manson. Varying influences of glam, gothic, industrial/electronic, hard rock etc.
3. Black Metal in its various forms.

I used to listen to all sorts of music, but none of it ever really grabbed me. Then I discovered metal and it's many sub-genres. Now all I listen is metal, every day all day.

My cracka ass is gunna fuck you up, eh!

Being Canadian, what's with the whole 'aboot' thing? I'm from BC, and which part of Canada says that? Eastern Canada? I've honestly never heard anyone say 'aboot'? ...an no offense but where I live only Natives say "eh" as a redundant word at the end of every sentence.

I probably listen to metal about 95% or more of the time that I am listening to music of my choosing. But some of the non-metal I listen to are among my favorite releases. These would include Oingo Boingo (awesome!), Return to Forever and some other jazz-fusion, King's X (metal-ish), System of a Down, Phil Keaggy, some grunge (AiC!!), some classic rock (Zep, Steely Dan, Chicago...), and a touch of classical (from the classical radio station), and a few various other things.

Actually I've got that album too... It's pretty funny. Not my cup of tea personally, but I gave it a shot.

I was listening to thier best of album. It's fun shit. Nothing serious but it's actually catchy... I listen to Rage Against The Machine to.

I would obviously never dress like or listen often to rap. I'm whiter then the fucking north pole!! I don't discredit most of it... fuck good song part!!!!

FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!!FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!!FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!!FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU...

God I love that song. Anyways. Most rap is alright. I just hate white kids who act like thier hot shit when they dress up in fancy ass expensive "rap" clothes they got at wal-mart.

There's a few rap songs/albums I've run into that I've liked and I'm open to listening to new stuff but the style itself isn't my cup of tea so unless I'm getting it for free (i.e. burned) chances are I'm not gonna take a chance buying something.
